I'm not understanding the issue. String functions are your friend.

I'm trying to do this and it's only capturing the first name... leaving the rest of the empty fields blank

Can you give us an idea of what the contents look like?

Is it First,Last,date,time,etc?

ETA: Never mind, you should be able to tell it to create a new column at every "," then find and replace all "spaces". Then use =A1&","&... until it looks like you want.

I need all the data in the cell, but I need to be able to sort it... I'm able to ALMOST get it there... but it's not allowing all of the data to be captured...

It's almost like the cells are merged and their taller than a single line..?

So, you have line breaks in the individual cells? You still need the first and last name?

Let us know if you have to re-do a lot of data entry. We all want to laugh.

Don't forget that delete the 32 thing. None of the techniques work until you do that and unlock the system.

Oh. Then unmerge them and expand the column width to see all the info.

So it's what looks to be merges vertically...

If he has a name with a space in it then text to columns will ruin him... Del Frisco would be split into two columns and throw off everything.

If he has 500 rows then no big deal to fix.... Of he has 1,000,000 then he needs another solution.

Someone formatted it like that within a cell?!

Is |__________| where the names are? What does it attempt to do when you do text to columns? You can set it to select specific characters to separate by. Lynx is correct, need to be careful of names with spaces.

"The cell contains multiple data values. Merging will only keep the top left value"

Same thing happens when I click "unmerge"

What happens when you click wrap text? Or unwrap it.

I can't tell if you are having issues with the format of the cell or if it is just a weird dump from a program

Either way, screen shot is necessary

What program?

Couldn't you choose a file type that excel accepts?

Text to column, then use an & formula to piece the names back together if that's what you need.
