I promise you those producers were doing everything they could to make baby Yoda as cute as possible. I’m not surprised at his popularity.

He is just referred to as Baby Yoda because the name of their species in the Star Wars universe is unknown.

Most impressed I was with one part of the first trilogy. I was in Denver on business and a friend there said we HAD to go seen #2, which was playing in stereo somewhere on the east side of town.
We went, it was in stereo, but in the middle of the stereo fight with things being blown up and landing all around the auditorium, the film broke. The theater was standing room only.
A typical kid walked to the front of the auditorium and did a "all is well, please, please, please be calm, we're working to get the film going so you won't miss anything". He only got hit by a couple of bags of popcorn. No riot (it wasn't downtown Denver)
The stereo really added so much and the creatures walking through the snow...the sound made them more believable.
I'll still rewatch that middle trio. The rest...nope.
