Ever wonder about shadows during the day where you live? There's an app for that.

Shade Map Link

Don't know why you'd need this, but kinda cool. Maybe you're going to a football game and need to know where the shady parts are for game time?

Lemme guess, the sun rises in the east, thus casting shadows to the west.

Apparently.

But terrain, time of year and time of day can alter where the shadows fall.

But use at your own risk.

A Rodale book Passive Solar Power has detailed charts tied both to your compass location (degrees North) as well as time of the year.

This information is very useful when trying to choose tickets in outdoor stadiums.

I use a more advanced version of that to model shade on solar for peoples houses. I’ve played with it a bit for shade profiling my gardens and things like that too.

It's pretty accurate with my years of shade charting. I'm just waiting for the law to change so I can build a greenhouse

Probably insufficient or outdated lidar data and they’re using the google shade api or oblique imagery to supplement it. The google shade api is pretty shittastic.

I have a similar app on my phone: SunCalc. Anyway, I’ve used it several times to help win bass tournaments.
