I thought he had tusks in your first pic.

Pretty cool!

Fella looks like the great great great grand daddy of scraggly parking lot raccoons.

I'm going to look for him again in a couple days and try to get better pictures

Piebald applies to any animal that has un - pigmented areas in their coat.
My neighbor killed a piebald buck(6pt) a few years ago.Head and neck were normal color, most of his body was white with some brown spots here and there.

I’ve gotten pictures of 2 different does on my property that were piebald.Strange thing is I only got one picture of each of them and never saw them while hunting. As far as I know no one ever killed them or word would likely got around the community.

Also some years ago my uncle had 2 piebald Fox squirrels in his yard. One had just a few white spots ,the other was about 1/2 white.
I wanted to shoot the 1/2 white one and get him mounted. He wouldn’t let me as he was hoping they would multiply.
As I expected they both soon disappeared, sure a hawk got them.

it's not piebald...it's leucistic, sometimes referred to as blonde...a lot of people mistake leucistic animals for albino because they aren't familiar with leucism...

Here's a Cardinal with the same genetic mutation.

Not my pic, but I remember seeing one from our area a few years ago being talked about.

You're right. I just did a little internet research and many types of animals qualify. I've never heard it used for anything other than horses. Maybe that's just Kentucky.

that's a really pretty bird...the most "exotic" critter i've seen in a while is a very large male raccoon missing his front left paw

I was wondering which term would apply here, it's definitely leucistic. Wasn't sure if piebald on the face at first but on closer inspection he does have a little pigment there, not absence of pigment. So that was a misnomer there, my bad.

I had a cardinal around my bird feeder that looked just like that for a whole year one time. Eventually he disappeared.

Yes. There were some blond raccoons in the Honey Island Swamp for several years upstream of the West Pearl and Hwy 90 intersection.

Here is a FaceBook group which gives good info on albinism: Understanding and Identifying Color Mutations in Birds and other Animals

I believe there’s typically one of these in every raccoon litter however you never see them because they stick out and predators get them when they’re young.
