Yes.
It is hard to deal with, especially when it was a senseless crime and the victim had a wife and 3 young children.

A girl I knew really well growing up was brutally murdered after High School. Out of the blue 25 years later they got a DNA match from a Georgia prison from a convicted murderer. And he was convicted again off that old DNA evidence.

One of my best friends from high school was killed. The story goes that him and another guy were messing around with a gun, the gun went off and my buddy died. They ruled it an accident. I didn't know the other guy but I still don't buy that it was an accident. This was in 2000.

I knew a dude who was shot. We were like 19 and he was a friend of a friend. Drug deal gone wrong. No big loss, really.

Someone I worked with. Not for very long, and didn't know very well.

I knew 2 people: guy from my high school moved to Nola back in the late 80's. Was shot next to his truck before he got in it to leave for work. Was covered up by corrupt people so that it was ruled a suicide.
Same story with another guy, but closer to home.

A guy I went to high school with was involved in a drug deal gone bad. Got put on his knees in the front yard of a random home and shot point blank in back of head.

yep. guy was 2 years older than me. His father and my father served in the Air Force together and had several postings together. Basically grew up with that family always around. Summer after my father retired and we moved to Louisiana, kid was shot in an armed robbery while working in a gas station in Montgomery. He was 17 years old. No arrests or even leads as far as I recall.

A woman I worked with at one time was killed by an addict looking to rob her for crack money. He though the house was empty but her and her kids were home. He stabbed her about 40 times in front of her kids. Currently serving life at Angola.

Elementary teacher of mine. Murdered in her home by an ex student. Across the street from my Grandma's home. It happened while I was spending the night. I didn't sleep well for months.

I'm pretty lucky in this sense, as I've never had anyone I really know murdered. Closest thing was a guy I went to school with's mother was killed by his father in front of him and his younger sister when we were in middle school. I can't even imagine what they went through.

Daughter of my first cousin was murdered while walking home from the school bus. No witnesses and her body wasn't found for a week. This happened in Florida about 21 years ago. She was 12.

A girl I know from high school and who lived by my parents was murdered by her bf in a murder/suicide.
Also, a friend's dad was murdered while waiting for his younger siblings to be dropped off by the school bus

Yep. The guy was in college and did music at my church when I was just getting to middle school. Was out for a run one day, got shot in a drive-by initiation type thing. Nobody ever came forward with any info.
