Ever Had Your Car Broken Into?

I came out to my car this AM and my window was splintered with an impact looking point down near the bottom right hand corner. Looks like the f-er tried to pop the door or use one of those lock flippers and cracked the window instead.
Luckily the whole thing didn't shatter but the window is toast. My parking is behind my house, off the street in sort of a shared lot/alleyway. Nothing has ever happened since I've lived here for 1.5 years. There's an Audi Q5, a BMW 3 and an Acura back there as well, all pretty new. Not sure why they would go after my jeep or stop at just splintering the window?
I never leave anything in there, but anyway my question is, what are the chances they come back? I left a note on it last night saying theres nothing in the car and you're being watched (obviously bullshite but why not).
Anyone else dealt with this BS? Thanks god I only have a week left here, but shite my luck has been bad. Should I move my car or something or just hope for the best?

Yes
They only break in unless you have something worth taking though

Yes. Twice at the gym parking lot. Apparently people are more prone to leave wallet, jewelry, ect in their car when going to the gym. I don't so nothing was stolen just the trouble of having to replace my broken window. Happened at two different locations.

I'm not sure if it's considered "broken into" but we left my wife's car unlocked one night and someone stole some sunglasses out of it.
Both of our current vehicles have alarms on them, though.

It was probably Nelly, I can't imagine he's got much left.

Does it count if I left my door unlocked?

Twice.
Once off Burbank in college. Someone walked up my exterior driveway, opened my vehicle, and took some cash and CD's I had in there. Always assumed it was someone I knew, because they knew exactly where I kept all of my things, and apparently knew my door would be unlocked.
Got broken into a few months ago here in Monroe as well. Moved into my new home, and less than a week after moving in, some piece of shite came inside my carport, busted my window out with a spark plug, and came away with about 200 dollars worth of shite.
I finally learned my lesson. I don't keep anything in my car (not even my daily gym bag), and I just leave it unlocked at all times.

3 times over the years. Once at Mardi Gras in Lake Charles, once at a hotel in Georgia, and once in the parking lot at work. Busted windows each time. Its a pain in the arse.
Thankfully, the moron(s) in Georgia did a quick job and grabbed what was convenient, and left the most valuable stuff. The others didn't leave a single thing.
It's a pain in the arse.

This is why I don't lock my car.
I read a study at some point that most of the time, thieves only take spare money and any valuables left in the car. But they break a window, bust a lock, etc.
I don't leave anything in the car and never lock it.
If someone wants to take my $3.50 in change, they can have it.

Jeep wasn't cheap.
Just trying to figure out WTF they'd go after my shite, nothing in there, not quite as flashy as the other cars sitting right there.
Not to mention, why not bust the whole window out if you're going to go that far?
Called the cops and they were completely useless.

My car locks automatically after like 15 minutes or I would....
I literally had nothing in there....

It's a car, it's not like there's a ton of hiding spots. Were the cash and CDs hidden somewhere?

That was my experience too. Anything past filling out a report for insurance purposes was too grueling and demanding. There were apparently dangerous rogue doughnuts to be apprehended, and that trumped viewing security video footage or anything else.

Yes. Back in high school. They broke a small side window and destroyed my dash trying to steal a $100 power booster.

Actually, yes. Underneath the radio in my Camry was a storage area that could be opened and closed. The bottom of the storage area had come loose (but not so loose that you could just bump it and it would move). I would keep around 50 bucks in that false bottom at all times - with stuff on top of it in the actual storage space.
All of the worthless items were moved out, the false bottom was taken out, and my money was gone.
THere was no "rifling" through my vehicle, which is what I typically see in a smash and grab job. This was orderly and with purpose.

Look around the parking area, has there been any yard work done lately - especially weed eating or blowing? Buddy had the same thing happen at noon in a commercial lot. We were trying to figure out who would break in broad daylight in plain view of everyone and then the guy operating the blower came around the corner - saw us and quickly walked away. We found the rock in his drivers seat and figured it out.

They were probably trying to joy ride it.

Spring loaded center punch - $5 from Home Depot. Takes about two seconds.
