Ever go out to the bars by yourself?

I experienced something I never thought I'd experience in my life last night. I'm embarrassed to tell it, but I trust you lugs to give me the shite I deserve for it.
Or maybe you have a different view of the matter.
Last night I was feeling jazzed with nothing to do. Kids went to bed at 8 and wife was falling asleep by 8:15. At 9 I decided that I didn't want to watch TV or do any hobby shite, so I left the house to go find something to do.
Now I'm 35 years old...married...with kids...with a career. I don't exactly have people on speed dial to meet up with at night on a Friday. Most of my friends are musicians with families, so the ones I did text were either gigging or doing the normal boring dad thing: at home watching TV.
I wanted to find some music, but Birmingham sucks for music and I stopped in at The Atomic Lounge. Awesome bar and I had an amazing cocktail called the Sex Panther. They even gave me a fake tattoo for it.
But the lounge was packed with people all talking to each other. I just walked around sipping my drink until I finished it. Never found a moment to talk to anyone, so I left.
Now...in true autist form, I had read a few articles prior to leaving about going out by yourself. I found a few talking about how much fun it can be to go out alone.
So I didn't give up. Went to a place called Side Bar and stood around for a bit. Didn't order anything because the place was lame. Didn't talk to any one and left after a short time.
Wandered over to a place called Nana Funks - it was starting to get late at this point. This place was a bit more lively. I ordered a drink and walked around people watching for a bit. Found a dance floor and a rather ugly fat girl started trying to dance with me. I tried moving away from her and she said "You're no fun!" Then she rubbed her big butt into my crotch and I thought, "What the frick am I doing" and left.
Got home a little after 11 and turned on The Irishman. Felt comfortable and happy watching a movie instead of being out in that shite.
Anyways, I feel rather good about my life and have always considered myself to be pretty cool. But that was one of the most loserish moments I've had and one that I will never experience again.
tl;dr - Went out on the town by myself thinking I'd find some music and talk to some new people. Didn't find music; drank one cocktail; didn't talk to anyone; had a fat girl dance on me; and I went home.

I have gone out by myself more than a few times and I always find people to interact with

I go out by myself a lot. Way less drama that way.

Yeah, but usually to a sports bar.
And I don’t drink fig cocktails called the sex panther so maybe they thought you liked cock?

Last time I went out by myself I’m pretty sure I got drugged.

Some of my greatest nights out have been when I went out alone.....
You dictate your enjoyment.
Also, wtf were you out on a dance floor married with kids? Sounds like a good way to end up divorced if she hears about your crotch being grinded on when your wife was sleeping

I must have been doing something wrong. I could have butted into some conversations or something, but I felt way out of place.

Well I was literally just walking through it.
I already told my wife this story. She found it funny.

I’ve never experienced the trouble you describe here.

You may have not chosen a good bar to go to then for the occasion. If you’re alone, sports bars and dive bars are the way to go, especially sports bars.

My condolences to your bank account when someone sends a pic of the fatty grinding your dick to your wife.

I travel a good bit for work.
I’ve found you can get into anything pretty much anywhere if you try.
I’m old now and married with kids and I give up way earlier than I used to.

This is thread 1 in a 10 thread storyline on how you eventually cheated on your wife

Dear Facebook
I haven't been out to a bar alone in quite some time but I always enjoyed a drink or two by myself. I never did it to go meet people or talk.. I just wanted to enjoy my own company. I am, at heart, a fan of isolation though.
I'm sure now that I'm married with a kid a drink or two alone in peace would be delightful.

What makes one bar good for being by yourself?
I agree the ones I went to were shite though The Atomic Lounge seemed pretty cool if you had friends there.

Aren't you a pharmacist?
Seems like you should be prepared for that kind of thing.
