All the rain and people driving like idiots reminds me of something I experienced on the way back home from college several years ago.

Somewhere in between Nacogdoches and college station, it was raining super hard and I was doing 45 down a 2 lane state hwy which is normally 70.

Ol baw in a 3/4 ton floors it around me, starts to hydroplane, loses control and flips his truck. I pull over and hop out to check on him, he’s stuck. I break his window, cut his belt, help him out and call 9/11.

As we’re sitting there, he slowly begins to process what happened. He looks over at me and says “why the hell were you going so slow? That’s why I wrecked trying to get around you!” I just said, now you see why I was going slow, and btw you’re welcome for saving your life.

Yeah you’re right, it sure would be if it didn’t actually happen.

Yes

Hydroplaned on HWY90 almost 2 years ago and ended up in the opposite lane and got smoked. No one got hurt and it was a miracle.

Did you at least have your hazard lights on?

I'd shove his arse back in the truck.

Why would I put my hazards on? He was behind me for a good minute or two, it wasn’t like he just ran up on me.

Because that's what shitty drivers do when it's raining.

The breaking of the window and cutting the belt really added to the dramatic effect.

All in a monsoon.

Coming back form the beach several years ago, there was a major downpour around the AL/MS state line. I watched an early 90s Suburban hydroplane, over-correct, slide through the median, and stop just short of the oncoming traffic lanes. Those people were extremely lucky.

Did a 180 on 55 south right before Ruddock once. When I came to a stop, my back end was sitting on the ledge and I was facing oncoming traffic. A guy from Manchac named Bud Light helped me out before the fuzz showed up. It was pouring down like crazy. The trooper cracked his window, said here's a ticket for careless operation and that's your court date...I ain't gonna be there so do what you need to do. I showed up and they gave me a busted headlight ticket.

About 20 years ago was heading west on I-10 over the spillway in a monsoon, some idiot in a Mustang came flying by. Everyone around us were moving at about 40 mph, we came up to the 55 split and it looked like bowling pins. The idiot in the Mustang tried to cut across traffic, lost it, taking out 6 cars. He was 16, driving a 5.0 GT.

One time this chick and myself are driving back to LSU for the spring semester and it was coming down pretty good. Driving in the left lane doing about 60-65 (on the safe side) and there's maybe one other SUV behind me with a family in it.

I notice a "puddle" or hole in front of me so i slightly swerve it. The SUV didn't notice it and hit it straight up. All of a sudden I see lights spinning in circles. Look in my rear view and see the SUV spinning all the way till it hits the grass on the left side.

Chick beside me was sleep the whole time and woke up after it was over. The whole time i was in shock.

About 16 years ago I hydroplaned on PGBT crossed through the grassy median and into oncoming traffic.

Was probably one of scariest events in my life. It was so wet, there was nothing I could do for the 5 second ride through the mud watching myself go sideways into oncoming 60mph traffic. Hit one car, but was able to drive mine home. Other car had to be towed, but nobody hurt.

In true Texas fashion, not a single person stopped to check on us. Police did even show up. Just shared a cigarette with the lady I hit and waited on the tow truck for her car.
