What kind of stupid analogy is this? Is this really what happens when you attempt to think for yourself?

Have you ever smelled a fart that came from someone wearing pants and underwear? How come those 2 equivalents to cloth masks didn’t stop it?

It’s better to remain silent and thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

As far as we can tell, the virus is incapable of using air as a vector; it’s spread through aerosolized liquids, like bodily fluids. Cloth masks are pretty good at containing those liquids.

To put it in a manner in which even someone as simple as you might understand, yes, we can still smell your fart, but your pants would mostly contain your projectile diarrhea.

There are (and always have been) a bunch of folks out there who are asymptomatic. I'd be willing to bet if we tested everybody in this thread right now, that there would be some of you who test positive and have no idea that you would have it.

Valid point. I got an antibodies test last week and tested negative. I thought for sure I had it back at the end of January. Had all the symptoms, but apparently I didn’t, if the antibodies test was accurate

Did you just get your primary care doctor to order an antibodies test? I want to take one of those and was curious how you go about getting it.

ETA: I don't know who the serial downvoter is, but it's really fricking annoying. It's not like we're discussing anything out of pure conjecture. It's basically all facts.

My mama is 74 and never stopped wanting us to come over with grandkids. She said "frick this virus. I'd rather die than not see the grandkids."

We were there yesterday and going back in a few minutes for Meatballs and Sketti.

I went to Home Depot yesterday and saw several "post retirement" age folks walking around with no gloves or masks...

You should’ve taken your own advice a long time ago.

The only thing that has proven to be true in the last 3 months is that nobody knows shite about this virus. That includes the “experts” that were saying that masks were pointless 2 months ago and are now saying everyone should wear them.

And what exactly is it that you think you’re smelling? You think the air around that person just magically decided change the way it smells? Or was it filled with particles that brought the smell?

You calling other people simple. Ok Karen

I went and saw mine yesterday and hugged her. But after I left I thought what if I have it and passed it to her? It ate at me for a good hour. I hate this whole thing.

Every study I have seen that says that is relying on the false sense of security that comes with wearing a mask. If the virus is in fact spread by airborne bodily fluids, then it is more likely than not that wearing a mask will reduce the likelihood that you expose other people if you have the virus, assuming you also follow other guidance.

Yes, you are very, very simple. “Particles”. You’re adorable.

I'm at risk with Lukemia, I do not expect people to sacrifice and capitulate.

I had Leukemia as a child, so I know how that is (no one had to sacrifice; due to other health issues, my treatments were completely inpatient - eight months in hospital), but I have a high risk for Pneumonia and I do not have a spleen. I am high risk, and I am only 30. However, living like this, living on egg shells constantly is not worth it. This isn't gonna give me cancer. I wonder how many people in nursing homes have died because they decided that fighting wasn't worth it. My mother just had a aunt that died because she was quarantined twice and couldn't take it anymore. She was 96.

That's awesome. My dad is out of state but my mom was pretty serious about no visitors in the beginning. She's done with it now.

Seeing so many older folks out in Georgia without masks. I personally don’t understand why they wouldn’t wear a mask being that age, but I’m glad to see our state re opening.
