Chappelle did this 15 years ago.

This shite has gone way too far. The opioid crisis is
a mess created primarily by pharmaceutical companies
Of course. The addicts have nothing to do with it? Every doctor knows opioids are addictive, they always have. But, opioids are effective and a neccessary treatment. shite happens. Blame those who manipulate for opiates and the relatively few pill mills.

That doesn't happen, though, because their pockets aren't deep enough.

I don't think Government caused the current problem but their knee jerk reaction certainly made the situation worse.

Fda approved the drugs and the manner in which they could be almost freely dispensed. My state, Florida, was one of the biggest pill mill states because government refused to do any level of pill registry/database. Government is very complicit here.

It's a hard line to draw, some folk I know are in legit pain, some like getting fricked up, and some are both. Personally I say make it all available and pharmaceutical grade. I feel much better knowing they killed themselves vs an impurity/adulterant. It took fentanyl proliferation for opioid deaths to exceed alcohol totals.

If you watched Robot Chicken's "Behind the Music" about Electric Mayhem, you already knew this.

I don't know the answer to this problem

As someone who struggles on a daily basis battling my addiction, I can tell you one major issue is people not understanding that addiction really is a sickness. It's taken me over 3 years to finally accept that I've done terrible things because of my addiction, but my addiction doesn't make me a terrible person.

In that neighborhood I bet she's not the only one with an opioid problem.

If you had a painfull injury or something and the doctor loaded you up with pills which you ended up getting addicted to, then no you are not a terrible person and I hate that you're going through that.

If you got hooked on drugs because you made the choice to do it, then that's all on you and don't go looking for sympathy, especially if you have a family.

Nailed it.
I wrote a white paper about this in 2012 at a think tank in DC.
Only thing you left out was Mexican cartels switching their model from pot to opium in mid 2000’s due to legalization of pot movement in western US.
Recipe for our current disaster.

Chappelle did it before Chappelle's Show too:

So don't even tell me how to get to Sesame Street. It's a terrible place. I wouldn't go there if I knew the way. Who would wanna live in a neighborhood like that? F***ing six-foot pigeons walking around and... and elephant that's a junkie.
"HI, BIRD."
Yeah, that's right. Snuffy!
"HI, BIRD. I'm sick.
I need some smack, BIRD."

Oh, so addiction isn't a new topic for the show then.

Yea I’ve always thought the Cookie Monster was somewhat of a metaphor for an addict

For the longest time, only Big Bird could see Snuffy. They never said what Big Bird was taking when he could do that.

But are Bert and Ernie still gay?

(not that there would be anything wrong with that)
