Get ready for having a lot more money in your wallet by moving to TX.
No state income tax, amazing schools so no need to pay private school tuition, car insurance is 1/2, electric is much cheaper, water is cheaper, housing construction related costs cheaper.

Southlake if you can afford it (this is the OT so probably no issue). Otherwise Grapevine, Colleyville, or Coppell

Property taxes are only about 1-1.5% higher in Texas than Louisiana so you're still netting a gain between the no state income and increase in property tax. Couple that along with not needing to spend 10k a year on private school education and you should come out a decent number ahead when considering all factors.

all I know is what I paid in FL v. what I'm paying in TX, and comparing it to friends in LA, and their amount/quality of house and property, not a huge factor, and as has been pointed out, kind of getting what you pay for here as far as the schools and their facilities, too bad I don't have school aged kids

On average, about half a percent difference. But obviously, dependent on the value of your home.

LOISIANA: Salary100,000.00 USD
Federal Income Tax- 15,409.50 USD
State Income Tax- 3,555.43 USD
Social Security- 6,200.00 USD
Medicare Tax- 1,450.00 USD
Total Tax- 26,614.93 USD
Net Pay*73,385.07 USD
TEXAS Salary100,000.00 USD
Federal Income Tax- 15,409.50 USD
Social Security- 6,200.00 USD
Medicare Tax- 1,450.00 USD
Total Tax- 23,059.50 USD
Net Pay*76,940.50 USD
A 200K home in TX may have a property tax of $4,000. What would the property tax be in Baton Rouge? $1,500? So your looking at a difference of $2,500. The difference in LA vs. TX with no state income tax is $3,550 at 100K. So you come out $1,050 ahead.
Then you factor in cheaper home insurance, car insurance, (about 1/2 what it cost in Louisiana) electric, gas, water, and basically everything you buy. Although this may not apply to everyone, but in the burbs of Houston, yes. We save between $50-$100 each month alone in electric because of deregulation. I paid $846 in total electric costs last year and fallguy reported today he paid $2,140 last year in electric.
Its a pain to shop around every year for the 64 companies and 318 plans but you can get very cheap electric. I have changed providers each and every year when contract is up. If you go out of contract then thats when prices rise.

are you sure that's in an incorporated area in a decent ISD? not arguing but the tax assessed value on my home is a little over twice that and last year I paid almost $13k, and it's going up, cookie cutter type semi McMansion v. custom built home in FL in a gated community on the water, 10 minutes from the inlet to the Atlantic, I love LA but don't mind paying a little more to live here

ETA: I go through an agent for the auto insurance and we have a good driving record, I just tell them to price shop every six months, they keep it reasonable

777 that scenerio was for the burbs of NW Houston.
Last year, property tax in our area in Houston is relatively low compared to others. But our total property tax including MUD is $4,200 per year. Of the three bills that make up the 4,200. $1,959 is for the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD -a very good school district.
We moved to a much bigger and nicer home in Cypress, TX and property taxes are $5,700/yr now. But still save because no state income tax saves us $7,300/yr.

I used to live in Euless. There’s a really good pizza place in the shopping center caddy corner to the Albertson’s on Euless N Main st.
