You are the ideal customer. Willing to sit face to face and discuss a deal instead of hiding behind emails/texts. I respect that.

Salesmen who are unwilling to quote via email for simple jobs/products dont get my business. Since OP is asking about internet sales i doubt its anything technical that requres a meeting

I've been out of sales for a long time, but I'm wondering if things have changed drastically in that time.

Maybe I am just old school, especially for a millennial, but I want someone to call me and preferably meet with me before I spend over 10K on any purchase.

Is it common place for salesmen not to call customers anymore? I understand getting an internet lead and responding initially by email, but is trying to work an entire deal without calling the customer normal?

I bulk purchase items well in excess of $10K. I very much prefer email over voice communication so that the terms, specs, and promises are all clearly spelled out.

A few weeks ago, I was car shopping.

Now, I want to put in a pool at the house. I reached out to companies on the internet. I understand the first point of contact being a return email as that is the medium I used to start. However, I made it clear that I want to be called/ have someone come to the house and meet with me.

Like it or not, millennials are starting to move into the positions of vendor selection and purchasing. If they want to do business behind the keyboard, you better sharpen your keyboard skills.

That’s all I have to say about the matter.

I just ordered $48,000 of one product for the first time without ever meeting anyone from the company. Sure we did a test trial with the product but never needed to meet anyone. Just depends on what business you are in and how knowledgeable your employees are in their field.

If I'm buying $10k worth of pens then I don't need to talk to anybody. If I'm spending what is probably several, several thousands of dollars on something like a pool like the OP the sales process needs to be much more personal. This doesn't really seem that complicated.

This is what I do. I drop by to meet the gate keeper. Confirm who I need to set an appointment with and see if I can schedule it. I never expect the decision maker to be available.

ETA: I also beat the phones like I beat my dick.
