Can I get confirmation on this?
My habit is to hit the off button as soon as I crank my truck.
I jammed a dime in the button, so that it stays pushed in. Auto start/stop stays off this way all of the time and I don't have to turn it off each time i start my truck.

A very rare thumbs up for the EPA.
If you have a Ford, you can disable the auto start/stop feature via FORSCAN. Do a search on the internet.

What they don't know is i bought a wire/chip that goes between that button and the ECU and turns it off every time i start the car.
I’ve done the same…off the record.
$20 and 5 min for my sanity.

it doesn't add any increased wear.

It maybe wears out a starter or something
Oh.... ok

I will say it does save a lot of gas in my wife's car.
No, it doesn't

The reduction in engine revolutions over the life of the engine should prolong the engine life but other ancillary devices like alternators, compressors, starters, etc may not like the added starts. Maybe it is harder on batteries?
It actually doesn't prolong the life of the engine. Every time you turn the engine off and then 30 seconds later activate the starter solenoid that turns the crankshaft flywheel, you're essentially forcing the engine RPMs to jump from a dead stop to 750-800 or so almost instantly. That is going to wear out both the starter and crankshaft/flywheel.
Wouldn't affect the compressor and alternator as much, but will definitely put stress on the serpentine belt.

Please do, it's dumb as shite anyway.

It was the first thing I turned off when I bought my car last year.

They need to create a module like the VCM muzzler/tuner for Honda that plugs into a harness right off the battery and disables it. There’s a way to hack it by removing part of the dashboard, but that’s too involved for many people.
I bought a cable off Amazon for 12 bucks and installed it under 30 seconds. Doesn't stop anymore and no more pushing the button.

Of all the examples of the stupidity of government, the auto-stop “feature” has got to be in the top ten. Whoever thought this was a good idea is a complete moron who knows nothing about the workings of the internal combustion engine. And whoever approve the idea is even more stupid than the idiot who came up with this hare brained boondoggle.

PSA to anyone with an F-150 or Expedition that is annoyed by this:
Open your driver's side door and look above where your left foot rests when driving. There's 3 plug-ins that are visible. Unplug the smallest. Best I can tell it controls the auto start/stop and trailer brakes. Did it 5 years ago, and have not had an issue since.
There is also a red connector plug on the positive post on battery of Fords that all you have to do is unplug it. Takes about 5 seconds. I did it on my wife's old expedition and multiple fleet trucks at work.

That's putting a bandaid on the overall stupid bullshite that drives it, commonly known as CAFE standards.

My routine:
1. Get in car
2. Start car
3. Put seatbelt on
4. Turn this stupid arse feature off

Right up there with the light bulbs that when they break you practically have to evacuate, and appliances and installations that have to run twice to function correctly.

Thankfully my responsibilities involve only undercarriage and GET, but I still hear about the nightmares of the regen systems. Faulty ard heads, sensors, etc., it’s a never ending list of problems.
