MILNER, Ga. (Atlanta News First/Gray News) — A Georgia city’s entire police force has resigned, the city manager announced during a Monday council meeting.

Milner City Manager Tausha Grose said the entire full-time police department has stepped down, along with most of the reserve officers.

The department’s last day is Oct. 28.

Grose also said she filed her own resignation and will work until Oct. 30.

Small department, small city
Milner, located about 45 miles southeast of Atlanta, has a population of less than 1,000 people.

The police department consisted of five people, including Chief Lamar Bunn.

The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office is expected to serve in the department’s absence.

During Monday’s meeting, Bunn indicated he stepped down partially due to a lack of trust in the city council and mayor. He accused Mayor Craig Timmons of placing a tracker on his personal truck.

“I didn’t ask them to do it,” he said about the rest of the force deciding to resign. “It’s not like I said, ‘Hey guys, let’s quit.’ No, I didn’t do that. So, I don’t know what needs to happen from here.”

The Flock camera supporters on this board tell me that someone's movements while driving do not have an expectation of privacy .

This should have already been in place. There’s no reason for all these little towns to have police departments

Talk about some worm turn irony in a national debate respect

There’s a pretty big difference in being caught on camera randomly at intersections and being stalked. But maybe that’s just me.

What are the odds that no one notices they quit? If they were making $35K each it was costing every man, woman and child in the population of 1000 people $175 each a year to do what the county would do for the price of county property taxes that those 1000 people are already paying. The city manage quit also....and odds are better than good that no one notices. Fewer government workers is considered a positive by almost everyone....

OOF...apparently the entire budget for the year was $124K LOL...that's less money than kids are making at McDonalds. If that number is correct those 5 were not doing much in the way of making Milner safer....$14 an hour employees ain't doing much anywhere....

But news stories for months and months have been about psycho officers using those camera system search tools to do just that, stalk all manner of people for myriad reasons. Predominantly exes and their new quarter horses.

Whoa whoa whoa

And i thought flock cameras were basically the same thing?

If cameras can detect everywhere you go, what’s wrong with a tracking device?

An article I read this morning said the mayor asked for the tracker back. How dumb can you be to ask for it back. He was asked in a council meeting if he put a tracker on the vehicle and he said, “no comment”.
