Louisiana State Police say Alexus Lee lost control of her SUV last Friday shortly after 2 a.m. She crashed into a culvert on Plank Road in Zachary, and the SUV overturned. She died at the scene.

Investigators called JR Collins to tell him what happened, and he headed to the crash scene. On his way there, troopers say he lost control of his car just before 3:45 a.m. and hit a tree on Plank Road just outside the town of Clinton. He was ejected and died at the scene.

tragic, almost sounds like there's more to this but probably just a tragic coincidence

Yeah. I can also see him being distraught, which raises the chance of an accident.

Just a tragic story.

Very tragic. Sadly it may have been preventable.

How in the world are you not wearing a seat belt on the way to a car crash scene?

He had to be speeding to get to the scene, right?

Just awful all around. Prayers for their child.

Engaged with a 4 year old kid. Seems like this will turn into an ugly custody/money grabbing situation for some people. Poor kid.

Engaged with a 4 year old kid kinda tells you they probably weren't serious people and that kid likely stayed with the grandma, etc. Poor kid.

Why? I'd guess a grandma takes him in like my wife and I would do if something happened to our children.
