How are people so fragile that they need an animal to get through life?

Do you include Veterans who have them specially trained for PTSD in this?
Absolutely

People that have emotional support animals shouldn’t be allowed to have animals.
They help keep ppl from shooting up public places.

Ah so you’re that fricking guy.

99% of them just want an excuse to bring their animal everywhere. And get out of paying pet deposits. Then claim some ridiculous disorder like PTSD from a bee sting during childhood.

One of my closest friends had bombs go off near him when he was in Iraq. His PTSD is such that when we go to the movies he has to sit in an aisle seat. He always feels like he needs an escape route anywhere we go.
He’s flying to Florida tomorrow to meet a potential support dog.
Should I tell him to just suck it up?

Dogs are cool as shite. I love when people bring their dogs into the office. Only reason people need to get these loop-holes is so many places don't allow dogs inside.
If we had more restaurants and other places of business welcoming Canine-Americans then people wouldn't need to go through this ritual.
I didn't do this with my dog. I'm just white-knighting for people who do, because I enjoy having dogs around, even other peoples' dogs.
Have you ever enjoyed the happiness of having a dog? You might be surprised at how great of a companion creature they can be if you ever let one of them into your life.

No. You should tell him that creating a transitional object (emotional support animal) is no different than an infant with its pacifier.
It will only keep him weaker and more dependent for the rest of his life. If he wants to be cured of his issues, then he should do things the traditional way.

I’m pro emotional support dog but if you want to take the pup out to eat with you Goto a place with outside seating.

If you feel that you need to always be able to escape, how does a dog fix that? Plus, won’t he now want to escape with the dog? That seems like it would increase his anxiety since he is now responsible for the dog as well as himself.
