This is exactly why you are seeing the outcry because Elon ended it.

Are you under some weird impression I’m emotionally invested in this like you? I’m here for the shitshow, not to vicariously try and live out my ideological grievances through a billionaire that doesn’t give a shite about you….
Hot take on the actual thread: this is either evidence of Musk losing grip with reality or a honey trap(most likely). Though in either case it’s gonna create even more chaos than has already been brought…

I'm sure Elon is interested in you advice, homey....

I'm not sure Musk even knows what his endgame is at this point.
With regards to the current chaos, consider that a strong CEO with a good team and delegation skills can get his team aligned to his vision to the point that the company acts like a well-oiled machine even when he steps away (much like the Brian Kelly "alignment" jokes on the Rant). In contrast, Elon has stepped into a company that is way out of alignment with his values and vision, with many of the employees openly hating him.
I, among others, believe it was not a coincidence that Musk made his initial offer to buy Twitter shortly after Twitter banned the Babylon Bee. (Musk had done an interview with the Bee maybe a couple months before that, and upon the Bee beeing banned, I think he tweeted something to the effect that something has to be done about that [the unfairness of it] or about free speech.)
His endgame, as I see it, has a few objectives:
1) Cut costs. Twitter is losing money and arguably has too many employees for what they do (many of whom hate Musk or are otherwise not aligned to his vision).
2) Free speech angle. I think (without proof) that Musk is rather anti-PC and would genuinely like to see open discourse. And though he's not a conservative, he seems to disapprove of silencing conservative voices.
3) He has spoken of wanting to make a super-app of sorts (can't remember, but think Chinese WeChat is the model he referred to) that is not only a social media platform, but includes a payment system and other features. Once he tears down the current culture, I would expect him to build back lean towards this goal with an eye on trying to turn a profit.

One can only hope.

he said today he will fire 75% of the remaining employees to rid the company of woke employees
that sounds like a pretty clear enough vision message to me

Listen buddy, no need to try and neg me, I’m not competition.
Just word of advice, Elon’s not secretly lurking this site and he’s not gonna frick you, so you can stop trying to performatively suck him off and snapping at every critic like they are coming for your boo….

I don’t know much about any of this but it seems to me that Elon is either
A) a mad genius
or
B)destroying the company because he’s overreacting to his frick up of buying a shitty overvalued company.

Has Elon ever done anything without making money as the end game? He sees the bloat and waste and is eliminating it.

NEW: Email from Elon to the engineering team: "Anyone who can actually write software, please report to the 10th floor at 2pm today. Before doing so, please email me a bullet point summary of what your code commits have achieved in the past 6 months" 1/
Elon Musk is also asking for up 10 screenshots of the "most salient lines of code" from Twitter engineers 2/
I like the guy, but he's clearly autistic. He thinks only in machine language. A social platform needs a humans touch.

Insomuch as it is a shitshow to observe during a half day with work tightened up and this site is one of the few not hit by work filters, sure.
You all projecting way deeper than that though. Like I said, I’m not here to compete for Elon’s heart with you, just know, he’s still not gonna frick you…

Imagine every government employee getting this type of notice. Absolute panic. That's how you drain the swamp. Install "doers" as appointed agency heads
Why did you put doers in quotations and why does everyone keep comparing government to for-profit businesses?

Getting rid of the free loader coat rider hippies who can only do limited work and don’t provide much value.
Cut the fat and keep the actual talented people seems like a good strategy to me.
Edit: no way a platform like Twitter should have some massive staff to run it effectively.
This is it
Unless they perform physical functions along with SDev work, they better be ready to plea their case well.

Oh look, another idiot that has contributed nothing of value to society has a comment about a billionaire running a business.
No worries, comrade, you have other ways to censor those you hate.
