I mean no one is free of consequences tho. So yeh they can say what they want but just may not have a job. I can’t imagine my employer would keep me if I was out there trash talking the company.

Yes. You fire them from the company because what they are saying directly impacts your company’s profits and earnings.
“Firing” from Twitter, through the act of banning users, because they hold an opinion that you don’t like is VASTLY different and the fact you are trying to make this comparison is further evidence that progressives are ok with censorship as long it is censorship they agree with.

It’s direct censorship, and progressives are still defending it.
The best thing for the world is that Twitter’s current leadership be sent packing and the company focused on improving its relationship with free speech.

Okay, you’re almost there.
Twitter users also aren’t immune from consequences.

In what way does discussing the lab leak hypothesis, Hunter Biden’s laptop, or men competing as women impact twitter’s bottom line?

I don’t give a shite what rank and file employees Twitter fires or why.
I care about the open censorship of users on their platform. The world would be a better place, and Twitter a better company, if they didn’t censor people just for having benign world views that they don’t like or for posting information that damages twitter’s preferred political party.
Civil liberties have taken the back seat for the past few years. That’s by no means limited to free speech and free exchange of ideas, but it’s a huge part of it. Big tech Censorship is a huge problem and a huge vulnerability to the human race right now. We are not subjects, we are citizens. And we should not be discriminated against just because a corporation doesn’t like our politics, race, or religion. And we should not be so easily manipulated by government or corporations through the the selected censorship of people around us that may bring value to public discourse.
If they don’t like the ideas, then challenge them. Offer better solutions. Don’t censor them. Right now people are being silenced and discriminated against because Twitter wants to influence politics and public opinion. That’s not okay.

Ok. I never said they were, did I? But if they gonna ban Trump for being mean then they better get to banning a whole shite ton more people.

All of his moves are to either create more wealth or to promote his image. He’s no different than any other billionaire celeb. He just so happens to resonate with the “epic meme/doge coin/incel” generation.
Did he frick your wife too? We've got some seriously salty Musk haters on this board.

It is kind of funny people believe he’s some free speech idol when he’s fired Tesla employees that have spoken negatively about the company.
This is not even REMOTELY the same.

He can buy it for $8/share less, and just buy 51%. He can then replace the board that turned down the fat cash.
There is something called the 20 percent rule. Anyone attempting to purchase more than 20 percent of a publicly traded company has to have approval from the BOD. There is also a bunch of other stuff that has to be cleared with the SEC.

Build vs Buy
No expert here, but a $46bln buy sure should set context to find cheaper way to build own free speech platform platform (double intended as seems to be making all kind of points about freedoms to make points).
A new Musk platform cannot be built and deliver his ambition cheaper than $46 bln?

I don’t think so. At least not very quickly.
And people will of course boycott whatever new platform is out there because it wouldn’t censor out those evil normies or inconvenient opinions.
Twitter’s value is the user base and it’s potential of being THE predominate social media platform for years and years. In this case it’s better to fix Twitter than to build out a new platform and risk it failing.

You’re exactly the same because you admitted yourself it’s okay for a company to fire an employee who is talking negatively about their employer because it could impact the company’s bottom line. A sentiment I actually agree with.

Are Twitter users employees of Twitter?
No?
Then your comparison is dog shite and you’re fricking stupid for having made it.

A quick twitter search will find you thousands upon thousands of gore videos, racist verbiage, threats against others, terrorism, and all kinds of things that go against twitters terms of services.
But, hey, no more mean tweets from the orange one.

This administration is pushing tech companies to censor misinformation.
Who gets to decide what is misinformation? You? Biden? Some smug pedo like Brian Steltar?
