Musk claims the United States does not have nearly enough engineers so a massive increase in H1B is needed. So much for putting Americans first
As a part owner of a engineering company, this is actually an accurate statement. "Traditional" Americans are still not putting focus on STEM, while Asian/Indian are. We then add the combined population of China, India and SE Asia comes out to 3.84 billion vs. the USA at 340 million.
It is a numbers game and lack of focus by American parents.
H1Bs are not coming in cheaper either and require more administrative overhead for the legal paperwork.
The above statement if for actual professional engineers and not IT trying to claim being an engineer.

I'm kind of on the fence on this issue. If a tech company can pay an H1B from India $20k to do what most developers here would for $100k, who cares? That said, I feel the program is artificially creating these conditions, so I'm not sure this is really free markets at work.
First, that person from India is sending a good chunk of that paycheck back to India. I’d rather that money be spent here in the US.
Second, if you’re truly about Americans prospering you have to recognize that it’s worth it for that salary to stay in America even it comes at higher consumer costs.

The visas are sponsored labor

Socially inept people struggle with such cues.

Elon is a liberal. He’s right on freedom of speech and got the goods to back it up, but no mistake, he’s not out there to save the world, he’s got his best interest in mind.
Of course. Trump was a lifelong Democrat as well. They both are of the opinion and see that the path we are heading down socially is not a good one, thus what they are trying to do to right that ship (anyone can agree or disagree with their conclusions all they want, its just what they are fighting for).
I'm not sure why people on the right are shocked when either of them have positions that are left leaning and likewise don't understand why so many on the left try and paint them as some right wing extremist. Its just silly from all sides.

State sponsored importation of cheap foreign labor. Like I said in my original post.
Maybe you should hire an Indian to read and comprehend English for you.

I guess the real question is are we for or against legal immigration? If we are against it we better be for higher prices and lower quality of life. If we are for legal immigration then why are we against H1Bs?
I think as someone said earlier in this thread this country has plenty of issues with illegal immigration to fix before we start trying to reform/end legal immigration.

No wonder. Just look at how we educate our students. Pronouns and gender is more important than math. Other countries don’t have mentally challenged teachers teaching kids. America needs to get better preparing young people for the technology needed for the future. Also dei and affirmative action policies have been hurting American companies not helping.

It’s clear you are clueless in this department so not much I can do for you.

See, this is where you messed up. If you want to prance around as some intellectual, you can do that and no one can really prove you wrong (other than yourself, which you do every time you go fingers to keyboard). But when you do attacks like this they don’t work because we know you live in what is akin to Soviet Bloc housing on the outskirts of society. You can’t call someone socially inept when you are the one that verifiably could not hack it in society.
Truly just amateur stuff

I mean, how gullible can people be?
Lol the Harris guy telling us how stupid MAGA people are. Your dumb arse voted for an ADMINISTRATION that has a President with Dementia and a vice president that can't even talk without a teleprompter. How about you STFU and watch how a real ADMINISTRATION closes the border, lowers gas prices, aand actually helps people instead of helping illegal immigrants and foreign countries. We won everything for a reason dipshit.

I like how you think H1B is meant to give companies the ability to pay 75k for an entry level indian vs 90k for an entry level american.
That is 100% NOT what it is meant to do.
Perhaps it does that in practice, which if it does, then it should be eliminated immediately.

Did you figure out the possessive of they/their yet?

It needs to be done. For instance, f you want to move manufacturing for chips away form taiwan then you need the engineers to operate the factories.
