Musk claims the United States does not have nearly enough engineers so a massive increase in H1B is needed. So much for putting Americans first

My mid term vote is predicated on if this bullshite comes to fruition.

To pretend that he doesn’t have significant influence with the incoming administration is very naive.

Person who employs lots of engineers, wants more engineers, news at 11.

The poliboard has been on fire over this the past few days. MAGA world is turning on Elon and his buds somewhat, too.

Ever since he gave freedom for conservatives to have a voice, many of us can’t stand him.

This is where the rubber hits the road I think
At some point, Americans have to decide if innovation and growth is worth the cost of diluting the ties that bind. I think you can hold the position that it isn't and do so without much animus at all. Foreign engineers can be smart, meritorious, and have value as human beings that we all recognize - but that doesn't mean we have to elect to draw them into our communities if we don't think the trade off is worth it. That's not an immoral or otherwise wrong side to come down on.
I think it's the same with growth/industry in red states that draws blue state talent. Is it worth it?

It's simultaneously hilarious and sad watching the MAGA-morons realize the rug is already being pulled underneath them...again.
Fool me once, shame on you...
I mean, how gullible can people be?

Here’s the thing the American tech job market has predicated this for years.
1. The talent in India is equivalent to American talent.
2. Indians aren’t entitled.
3. Indians work hard.
4. Indians have more realistic salary and career expectations.
With all that said what major corporation wouldn’t go the H1B route?

I'm kind of on the fence on this issue. If a tech company can pay an H1B from India $20k to do what most developers here would for $100k, who cares? That said, I feel the program is artificially creating these conditions, so I'm not sure this is really free markets at work.
It will be interesting to see how Elon and David Sacks react to all of this.

Thats exactly how populism works.
Promise the world, get elected, then business as usual.

This applies to people who were convinced Trump would be the antidote for all that ails us
But keeping the status quo without continuing to engage in this administration's race to irrelevancy and chaos is a pretty big win all the same.

These are all false

How do you know what a "realistic" salary expectation is when talking about emerging industries that went from largely non-existent to worth trillions in less than 20 years?

I disagree with Musk on this and probably on a lot of things as he is still liberal in many of his views. The Dems left him not the other way around.
Until we can actually control entry and control removing those we let in once visa expires (or refugees not vetted properly) and removing those illegally here we have no business increasing any immigration.
Trump will be less supportive of this and is the actual President elect. Dems trying to act like Elon is in charge but still will not let the country know who has actually been running this country for 4 years and also ignore their very large Soros problem. Kamala had more billionaires supporting her than Trump did.
