Is that an IC generator providing electricity to the "green" vehicle?
Yep, A solution to lack of electrical infrastructure.
It really drives home the point that the electricity has to come from somewhere.
Whether its hydro, coal, NG, Nuclear, wind, or solar the power doesn't just come from the wall.
And if you think wind and solar are reliable and scalable Texas would like to speak with you after this winter.

Good way to limit people's movements and consolidate populations into prisons. sorry. I mean cities.

If we switch to nuclear, it’s much more viable.

Drove my sister in laws 2021 Audi e-tron yesterday. I was impressed. My next vehicle may be a electric or hybrid base.

Tesla still owns the market and it’s not changing soon. Polestar cars and the Mach E are good efforts by major manufacturers... until they are compared to Tesla. Tesla’s offerings, which are several years into the model runs, are cheaper, more efficient, and longer range than the latest and greatest from the competition. Porsche and Audi have a few great EVs but they are $100k+. Rivian has potential but is still very upmarket. There is no competition in the $50k market yet.
The biggest advantage for Tesla is the infrastructure. Everyone else relies on independent charging options which are more expensive, slower, and clunky.
The federal incentives are kind of a joke too. Ford has tried to address dealer marking up Mach Es $10k and RAV4 Primes are facing similar issues. I can get a new Tesla in 2 weeks with upfront pricing.

Environment wacko's love electric vehicles. They don't give 2 spits what takes place to land in order to make the batteries for them.

What I don't understand is why aren't more cars being developed that work like the Chevy Volt (not bolt) and Prius being developed?
Technology has moved beyond both.
Chevrolet (GM) is spending more on developing new EV’s than ICE cars. Toyota, Ford, and VW is only a few years behind them.

Go drive a Tesla S. If you can ignore the poor quality construction and the cheap interior, you’ll find a fundamentally sound and entertaining vehicle. Most of you drive F-250 pickups so I’m sure you are used to looking past build quality problems.
It’s not just environmentalists that like these cars now. The bulk of the R&D spent on new cars are going to electric vehicles. The coolest new cars will soon be all EV’s.

The point is it still takes a toll on the environment

It absolutely does. Probably more than the average mainstream car.
But that doesn’t stop what’s coming. Advocates for electric vehicles are more anti-oil industry than they are supportive of environmental causes. If they were environmentalists, they wouldn’t back what goes into creating those battery systems.

This laughably stupid if you take into account the energy used to produce transfer and store the energy for something as small as a car.
Some people seem to think electric cars are powered by fairy dust and unicorn piss.
Transportation can be efficient, but it's impossible to make it "free."

I’ll drive one when I can get 500 miles on a charge and a 10 minute recharge.
That's the only way to make it work.

I’ll never drive an electric car. Ever.
And I’ll look down on those who do.
That’s my take.

dding a small engine driven generator to recharge the batteries is an idea with the same merit as adding gerbils and a cage wheel. If you add a gasoline driven engine just have it drive the car.
I think the idea is that the engine can be smaller and a means of backup if a "plug" isn't available.

As one who is quite familiar with both the Prius and the Volt, I’m gonna need you to explain this
Are you saying that since we can put gasoline in the tank to run an gasoline engine to recharge the batteries that we still are restricted on range?
What I mean is that wouldn't it have the same range as a purely internal combustion engined automobile limited only by the ability to refuel?
