I also wonder what these means for surgery centers.

Those are almost universally elective procedures BUT they are not full functioning hospitals. Meaning that they won’t clog/prevent COVID patients from being treated.

is microdisectomy considered elective

Most likely, yes.

We were basically told infections and trauma. Anything else is a no go.

Thanks....but what if it's at an outpatient surgical facility?

This is a question we haven't had answered yet. To me, it seems like this should be fine. Not sure admin feels the same way.

Are joint replacement surgeries and things of that nature considered truly elective?

Memo just went out from the state board to "All Licensed Health Care Facilities in Louisiana" that any and all elective medical procedures be postponed 30 days

ESWL, had one done about 4 months ago. I guess one of the pieces isn’t small enough to pass

Joint replacement is absolutely elective, however a joint revision with infection would most likely fall into the emergent category.

My state hasn't done this. Currently a hospital based decision. Since there are no cases of COVID-19 here yet, elective surgeries are still a go, though I've had several patient's cancel/reschedule (can't blame them). We are already restricted to 1 mask per day.

What's considered elective will likely ultimate come to surgeon's decision and some might abuse it.

But for me it would be any trauma, infection, oncological cases or cases needed to be done for disposition/discharge purposes.
