Watching the people at the convention center in need is bringing back the same bad memories. Now theyre questioning the mayor of Houston about why they werent more prepared to take care of the refugees.

What really sucks is how many Katrina refugees relocated to Houston only to have it happen to them again.

I just cant imagine how anyone, even a government agency, could be prepared for something so historic. Can you imagine the man hours and the funding alone that you would have to take on every year for something that doesn't even happen often? New Orleans was a fricked up situation, but we're talkng the 4th largest city in the United States. You think Chicago, LA, or New York could be any better prepared? I doubt it

Yes mayor, why didn't you have 4000000 beds and meals daily ready to go within 48 hours? You suck.

Harvey, Andrew, Isaac, Katrina, and Gustav all hit within 5 days of each other on the calendar. The 5 strongest storms, by pressure, to hit the US all happened between August 17th and September 2.

Actually they have questioned about why wasn't there an evacuation. 6.5 million don't evacuate in a couple of days. Just a stupid question. Also they learned evacuations don't work with Rita. There were thousands stranded on highways because of gridlock and running out of gas.

I've posted this a million times but 107 of the 113 deaths during Rita were due to the evacuations.

Oh that's bullshite. It's been night and day here in Houston compared to Katrina.

New Orleans really wasn't prepared at all for Katrina.

In Houston I'm amazed at how much ordinary citizens are pitching in to help and how smoothly (as smooth as can be given the circumstances) everything has gone.

You could be prepared, because it has happened before. And, you learned from the mistakes you made in the past.

And the national news hasn't done a good job showing how awesome people have been during this time.

I have some stuff to share but I'm on my phone and the internet is slow and spotty for obvious reasons.

Are you fricking kidding me? The response and organization from the city of Houston has been outstanding. I haven't heard one person with any semblance of an IQ say anything differently.

The way this sitaution and Katrina were handled don't even compare.
