No disrespect to Eddie, but fret board tapping had been used and recorded by many people all the way back to the 50s

Yeah that's a common misconception. He didn't invent it he just made it popular, but also brought it to a whole new level.

Even though Van Halen were overrated and the inspiration for god awful hair metal he was still one of the greatest and most innovative guitar players of all time. RIP.

I saw flags at half past today and wondered who died.

He was a legend.

2020 strikes again.

If EVH hadn't lived, I'm not sure I'd be where I am today. He inspired me to pick up a guitar, and that changed my life forever.

R.I.P., King Edward.

Nah.. if I was old enough in the 80's I'd be listening to thrash metal (Metallica and Slayer)

I am a big fan of Van Halen. I have all their albums, including the Sammy Hagar ones and the one with Gary Cherone.

For some odd reason, though, my two favorite Van Halen songs were the offbeat numbers Could This Be Magic, and Big Bad Bill (Is Sweet William Now), the latter one being a cover song.

RIP to Ed.
