Start with the fact that the US is the largest producer of crude oil on the world.

Being this low is very bad news for everyone.

I hate the orange man and am 100% confident he's a weak minded simpleton. That said, I also think if anyone can turn these prices around its him.

He has a good chance of getting my vote if he can talk with his boys Vlad and the Crown Prince and figure something out.

A lot of hard-working, tax-paying, middle-class Americans will lose everything. They will no longer be spending money. It’s never good for the country when this happens to thousands of people.

I’m all for cheap gas. But oil being as low it is now is not good news for the country. In fact it’s terrible.

Not so fast. Kay Ivey needs to sober up, get off her arse and open things up. For the life of me I don't know what she is waiting for.

Anything is possible. 10 years ago, people would call you crazy if you suggested oil could go negative. Crazy times for sure.

In two years when oil shoots up to $120/BBL and Diesel is $5/Gallon in Alabama I'll book mark this for you when you're complaining about those evil oil companies.

Yeah but at $120/barrel people will get back into the production in America. You know it’s true. Some thousandaire will take out a couple
Million from the bank, start up a company and kill
It for a few months to a few years, and then to will drop back down to $55/barrel and someone won’t be able to pay that loan off.

It’s our industries cycle.

i will survive but i won't be spending money eating out like i used to. ham sandwiches are good enough for me.. that hurts local business.

Why would the refinery, that buys the oil, shut down when it is cheap?

Soooo, you know how we are able to make things super cheap in China. And all manufacturing moved to China because it's cheaper to produce it there? How's that working out for us?

I'm not saying o&g should be as high as it can be. But when another country can undercut one of our resources, it means we lose value as a nation. We lose GDP. We start importing more and exporting less. Money is constantly leaving instead of coming in. It affects our entire country at some point.

Not to mention the security of our country. That aspect of it wasn't obvious to me until recently with medicines produced in China. We have to be able to have infrastructure for things like energy in place that do not rely on other countries. It may be good in the short term, but having our ability to produce collapse under us due to low prices is absolutely dangerous for us in the long run.

But go on thinking that there are no issues and it only affects oilfield baws.

the oil price is really bad news for our country

Maybe if your in TX or OK but cheap energy and petroleum derived chemicals is supremely beneficial for the national economy.

Only simpleton roughnecks and big oil are happy with $90+/bbl prices. You member how fd up everything was when we had $107 oil? f that noise.

Go to community college and get a real job for the Y2K economy. Windows Server 2019 certs aren't that hard to snag.

Tech has crashed in the past.

Was the real estate crash good for the economy? Some people got cheap houses like some will get cheap gas.

There is a happy medium. Think about all the secondary and tertiary companies that this affects.

There are construction companies that depend on the oil companies. There are realtors who depend on the housing market in houston and Louisiana which can crash if oil crashes. I readily admit that futures market trading is out of my wheel house but I know it ain’t good for the majority of this board.

Are't the refineries and chemical plant the customers to the drilling companies? Thus a lower cost to make a product gets transferred over to the end user. McDonalds isn't going to shut down because someone is paying them for their chicken. They are going to either transfer that savings to themselves or their customers.

Wouldn't that be the same thing here? It's not like we have no oil.

True. And only simpletons are happy with the current price.

And FTR, I do not work in either the oil or gas industries.
