frick did the Sheriff's office get involved in this?
She called them after a dispute about a barstool. Because that's normal. Its my opinion she knew who he was the whole time.

Hate crime. Kaneita (sp?) is this generation's Rosa Parks. She ain't giving up her seat for no white man!

I mean I can deal with/brush off and ignore some ignorance but to infer that Matherne's is racist for opening up downtown despite its shortage of "rooftops" (nevermind that many of these are high rise buildings, including the one Matherne's is in) is just mind-numbingly stupid. Apparently haveing foresight and business acumen is now racist.

NBR is just a goldmine so clearly the reason businesses don't open up there is purely racial

His argument is that there aren't enough rooftops downtown to call for a grocery store.
Oh and that Mathernes opened there so they could sell to people that look like the Mathernes.
What's sad is that this guy actually believes all the nonsense he spews on there.
Yet, if Mathernes had opened a grocery store in NBR, he would call on the black residents to boycott it because it wouldn't be black owned.
This is a guy who is on the Baton Rouge North Economic Development District board of directors and this is just the line of thinking that will turn that area around
The dude is the gift that keeps on giving

I just scrolled through Gary latching onto that parole officer. Did he really bring up that shooting on Old Hammond Hwy? Because I believe it was reported as an attempted robbery by a BM.

Scrolling through his FB, all I can think of is this......
"Do you write your cards with a crayon?"

If memory serves, and I apologize if I'm wrong...
Your posts, especially on the PoliBoard, were traditionally left leaning.
You may soon understand why so many people like myself left the Democrat party.

Let me start this post out by saying the least racist entity is business economics; the only color a business is interested in is green. Well, actually black as opposed to red with regards to net profit.
On the average, a full grocery store (including meat, produce and dairy) operates on a 1% to 3% margin. These stores spend much time and money to identify locations where this margin will not be compromised. Stores in “struggling” areas experience greater security, theft and other liabilities that chew into the margin and simply can’t continue to operate.
This is why you only see smaller food marts that sell higher profit margin products at higher prices; limited, if any, produce, meat or dairy. Primarily junk food and prepared (usually fried) prepared meals as those demand the higher prices.
The “food desert” phenomenon is not at all a race issue, but an economic result based on statistical behavior.
If Gravy is such a businessman, he should try opening his own full-blown grocery store in NBR or Old SBR. Within 6 months things would become pretty clear to him.

Nah. He'd just blame it on white people some way or another.

People like Gravy don't operate on facts. They have a blind agenda that must be followed and agreed with by all and if not you are labeled a racist and must have your credibility destroyed for being one.

Nah. It's just proportionately more crime and drugs than any other part of the parish.

Abigail Winget Meh, it's only about 45% crime and drugs. Everything else is working people and elderly. The majority of young people are either the crime and drugs or have moved to SBR. You've got a handful of me's here who actually go to school/work and handle business. I know, I live, school, and work here. I see it everyday.

Props to her. Gravy doesn't even live in NBR, correct?
Posted on 2/17/17 at 9:37 am to Scruffy
Correct. And his business isn't located there either.
