I knew Erwin since his coaching days of American Legion Baseball and actually was on a jury in his courtroom.
In the courtroom, he was more than fair in the trial I sat through that included a member of the race he is accused of insulting. They ended up settling the case before it got to trial. He probably saw that same person in his courtroom numerous times.
On the baseball field, he could show his temper with the umps!
