EBRP Property Reassessment (UPDATE in OP)

Who else got a nasty surprise in the mail? According to the assessor, my house is now worth 20% more than it appraised for just last year. It's a BS money grab. We have just one week to file some sort of appeal, which I have no idea what to provide to them.
UPDATE:
I fought, and won. There were a multitude of excuses from the other side of the counter. "New software", "you can't compare to your neighbors" etc. Ultimately they were reasonable and agreed to lower the assessed value to what I paid at this time last year. It's worth contesting if your assessment is unreasonable.

I would think having a recent appraisal is a pretty good indication of actual value.....or at least a place to start.

Will be adding many traces of blackness to mine before I send in those appeals. Broome is gonna think Kunta Kente lives in Kenilworth.

I don't know that we have much room to argue. Ours went up 16% from last year and while our assessment is at the highest end of what similar homes in the neighborhood have been selling for, we have the biggest lot (ie: fighting it would be an uphill battle since they could claim some sort of justification).

Same here. Complete BS. Will be calling as soon as I can to protest.

Mine as well. I am going to try and use this to my advantage with investing. Not sure if it will completely work out like I want it though.

Thankfully, mine is the same. I was worried after reading the board and others having decent jumps.

My rent house is now worth $190/sqft according to the assessor. And the one I live in has appreciated 25% in the 3 years I've owned it.
I must be some kind of real estate genius.

I got it too. Just refinanced our house. Doubt that’s the reason but curious if anyone else got it too or if it’s more generic than that

It is happening all over the US right now. Not collecting as much sales tax. Got to get one way or the other.

Haven't gotten it in the mail, but checked the website. $62k increase in assessed value.

Got two last week. Gotta make up for future tax revenue lost due to St. George and Corona.
Many on here predicted this.

Our assessment went up 11.2%. I'll sell this house to them today for what they say it's worth.

First 8 years of ownership my appraised value was the purchase price of my house.
This year I got an appraisal bump of 9.5%. I don't like it of course by my house is actually still worth about 5% more given current market compared to new appraised value.

Likewise, I have no issue paying taxes on what my home is actually worth. Not looking for a discount. However there is zero chance I could sell my house for what they say it's worth. It's not even close to reasonable based on comps.

Mine went down. You should have done like us and put up pictures of African American heroes.

Must've taken down all your family photos.
