If they didn’t speed, the police presence wouldn’t be needed

Because there is a huge difference in danger doing 60 as opposed to doing 55 or 50 right?

Depends.

In the dark and fog like today, I’d say there is.

You think people are doing 60 on that stretch of road? If you do 60 you get passed like you’re sitting still most of the time. I’d also assume, since it’s damn foggy this morning they may be trying to prevent something?

I actually agree that in days with adverse conditions such as rain, fog, or ice people should be much more careful and drive more slowly.

But if you think there is significantly more danger doing 60 as opposed to 50 we will just have to agree to disagree

20% increase in speed would be a significant increase.

Well in that case doing 10 in a 5 should be a capital
Offense because it’s a 100% increase in speed

You’re being intentionally obtuse so obviously you understand.

You can never get a 100% increase because of friction.

Henderson Police were near the basin this morning doing the Lords work!! I'm glad that they are causing a traffic pile up when they pull over somebody for going 68. It's makes me feel so safe that Henderson cops are so intelligent.

No I’m saying if your going to go by % over the speed limit as opposed to MPH in this instance why isn’t 5 to 10 a greater threat.

I’ve already agreed that in bad weather people should be driving more carefully, slowing down and leaving more space between cars.

What I find insane and a poor use of tax payer funds is to have multiple officers set up along a single stretch just to raise revenue

Always cracked me up that they built essentially a highway but want to put it at 50 mph

I don’t drive it everyday.... but I’m on that stretch a good bit. Again, rarely are people doing 60. If you do 60 you get smoked on that road. Most are doing 65-70.... so, yes it can become dangerous in a foggy situation when some are going 50-55 and some are going 65-70 staring at their cell phones.

Good point. It's much safer in intense fog to pull out onto the highway as people are doing 70+ mph and/or have multiple units parked along the shoulder. Yeah, this is much safer.
