I wish these cops would set up on Essen at 5PM and hand out tickets to people who block the intersection. Guaranteed revenue stream.

There was a really bad wreck last night at the corner of Frenchtown and Central Thruway. My wife drove up on it as it was happening. From her story, one vehicle was speeding excessively. I'm sure that's why the SO is out there today monitoring speed.

If EBR didn't need tax dollars they wouldnt need tax collectors.

Henderson Police were near the basin this morning doing the Lords work!! I'm glad that they are causing a traffic pile up when they pull over somebody for going 68. It's makes me feel so safe that Henderson cops are so intelligent.

yeah, but at least they are consistent. They are there everyday collecting an serving. and they love them some out of state drivers.

Generally disagree with putting revenue over safety - speed traps, a few miles over the limit etc...

But - the thruway is like a drag strip as others have posted. Its 55 posted limit, but if you aren’t doing 70-75 ol’ baw in his f250 will blow your doors off. Its treated more like an interstate.

The speed differential is way more dangerous.

Witnessed it firsthand on the thruway when homeboy flew up behind a car actually doing the speed limit and pit maneuvered a woman into a subdivision brick wall entry sign. Hit and run, dude just kept going. They really do need to be out there some.

I would think more obstacles, like cars being stopped and other drivers hitting their brakes, would cause more hazardous conditions

That's not nearly as fun as cop bashing. Get out of here with your logic!

Again, rarely are people doing 60. If you do 60 you get smoked on that road. Most are doing 65-70....

So another road where the speed limit is set artificially low for revenue collection purposes.

This comment tells me you have absolutely no clue what traffic flow conditions are like on Central thruway any given day.

Such ignorance.

Troop A and B LSP do the same shite to the 'good guys' on I-10.

It's fricking pathetic they go after the people working for a living and are most 'likely to pay' their fines for speeding.

Ya see that's the more fricked part of it. Not just that they go after employed citizens. But that time frame yields the most PAID speeding tickets.

I am pro law enforcement but I am anti-speed trap as they come.

And no I don't speed. I drive UNDER the speed limit. Haven't had a speeding ticket since 1999 after the Auburn loss. Driving back to Dallas that Sunday on 190 and thought the limit was 65mph.

Yep.

Central Thruway needs to be treated like that stretch of Airline Highway that goes from Woman's hospital by industriplex to Gonzales city limits where speed limit is like 65 if I remember correctly.

And the thing is that stretch of Airline also has very few turning lanes and is more dangerous than Central thruway.

Don’t know how much $ goes to the state, parish, or city...but...
The city gov’t of Central raised it from 50 to 55 shortly after it was built. They tried to get it higher, but state law prohibits it.

"There's actually a state law that comes in to play that says if you're within an incorporated municipality the max speed on any road is 55 miles an hour."

Had the misfortune of seeing a few 18 wheelers do this at highland by Troop A, it was a complete shitshow where an entire batch of cars couldn't move past a green light.

Does this mean they'll be forced to drop Airline's speed limit when St George incorporates?
