The teachers don't want the same candidate that the board wants so they are crying about it and disrupting the process. Yes, the people you pay to teach your children are literally whining because they aren't getting their way. Now you know how we got here.
One of the same ones said the few white kids left in the system shouldn’t be considered, admitted to just passing kids, called for teachers to not show up for work and used racial slurs. They don’t mind taking the white peoples’ hard earned money but don’t want us to have a voice in how that money is used (or misused in this case).
I don’t see any way Baton Rouge can recover.

First they told us we needed to pay more taxes to build better schools, to get better teachers and to improve discipline. The voters bought what they were selling first in 1998, and renewed the taxes in 2003, 2008, and again in 2018.
Several years ago when hit by criticism that test scores and school grades were declining the same crowd that told us thdd Ed crac increases were vital defended their plan by putting the blame on the parents of all the kids who were doing subpar.
They made sense. If parents didn’t care about school and good grades then their children wouldn’t either, but then why tell us better schools and teacher raises were key?
The fact is it didn’t matter. The culture that doesn’t care about educating their kids is never going to flourish in school and no matter how new the buildings are, or how much the teachers are paid; the test scores will always be low.

Who is standing in the way of Adam Smith? That’s who they want, then approve him and let’s move on.

My daughter has been there since Kindergarten and is going into 9th this year. The only kids I've heard of being pulled out are the ones who are going to Catholic and St. Joseph's, but that was probably the plan for those families all along.
From what I’ve been told by a reputable person at UHS, this year’s numbers are extraordinarily high. This is not the typical attrition to CHS/SJA and definitely not in the plan for all. Additionally, some big donor families have walked away and more are talking about it. If those losses happen that will affect all students if those donors aren’t replaced. If they are replaced, are any of the “new” sources questionable? Is something deeper going on financially? I think those are fair questions to ask.
Past and potential faculty and staff changes is another area I would ask questions about.
There are parents trying (or maybe tried at this point) to organize behind the scenes to address concerns as a larger group. Some are recognizable names and their concerns are seemingly great enough that they had no issue attaching their names to emails. They’re also wealthy enough to walk away with multiple children, never having to worry about potentially paying $20,000 to $80,000+ a year in tuition for their families elsewhere. I don’t think many UHS families have that luxury and are reluctant to put their kids on the line because they see the current administration as vindictive.
Personally, I think the issues are greater than Kevin George. I don’t think LSU’s primary goal is to have a person in that position who will make decisions based on what’s best for UHS. We’ve been there over 25 years and looking back admin who were known for their care of faculty/staff and students were forced out (“retired”). Since Wade Smith left we had Westbrook, who tried to kill athletics and was an all around disaster and the joke of an interim whose name I can’t even remember. Kevin George was one of two “best” candidates from a weak pool. They should have continued the search but I think he had influential backers who have their own agendas. He is using UHS as a stepping stone and most of his decisions are to benefit his own career trajectory, other individuals within LSU and perhaps outside individuals or organizations. I think the EBRPSS would have been fine with him as long as their side was the highest bidder because the teachers union is doing the same shady shite, they’re just hiding behind the community who buys their bullshite good intentions. It’s always about wealth and power and it doesn’t matter who the person is as long as they go along for the ride.
And because these conversations always bring out the UHS haters, it’s still an exceptional school and from what I can tell highly regarded in higher education.

What's the real situation with George? Lots of families pulled out of U-High for the coming school year. Is he well-liked there?
My daughter is at U High. I think George is competent. I’ve never had an issue with him or the school.

A lot of dynamics at play here including the two board members trying to take over board whose districts are St. George
They have agendas

I was impressed by the gentlemen who acknowledged George is black but remained committed to the Board being racist.
I like the one who said she wasn’t making a threat while making the same threat to not show up the first day unless she got her way.
This kind of ignorance supporting Smith and being pushed this hard by the teacher’s union should raise a huge red flag about him getting the job.
They filed recall petitions on the 5 today.
There is something similar about the ones they don’t like.

Something feels off. It seems like they have a 27-year veteran who has successfully worked his way up from teacher to principal to administrator, even serving as interim superintendent twice. The community and staff clearly support him, yet five board members are willing to damage their goodwill with these groups to deny him the opportunity. Politically, it seems really dumb. It's strange that they are doing this without clearly articulating why they are so against him. I could understand if they simply said they don't like working with him, but instead, they praise him yet claim he's not the right fit for the job. This inconsistency is likely why people are so upset—it just seems fishy. In Louisiana, this immediately makes people suspect corruption.
He has been denied the post three times. He is just not the guy. Also, don't think that just because there was "support" for him from the board, that he is the choice of the black members. Lanus is hoping to backdoor Narcisse back into the position. There is a lot going on.

They won’t recall anyone.
