What’s the federal judge going to do, hold him in contempt? I think he’d gladly sit in a holding cell for a couple days getting great publicity for protecting his constituents. I’d love to read the ruling if anyone has it.

I’m not even sure the federal court had jurisdiction over the issue in the first place. The feds already told Mitch it didn’t violate the law because of the way it would be deployed.

It’s all good. All those people saying Iberville Parish would have to pay if property in EBR flooded because of the aqua dams don’t realize what just happened. EBR is now responsible for any property flooded in Iberville Parish that would not have been flooded if the aqua dams were utilized contingent on the court detetmining that Iberville Parish was wrongfully precluded from deploying the aqua dams.

It’s a bold move that could now cost EBR a ton of money if shite goes sideways with this storm. The trashy Iberville Parish people will be getting paid that EBR tax money.

Contempt carries a maximum sentence of 6 months.

And you don't get a trial. You get slapped with contempt and a sentence.

You have obviously never flooded if you think having insurance makes everything all better. Getting flooded is a shite show and even with insurance you are never made whole.

If you’re gonna rely on flood insurance and you think you’re house is about to flood significantly... Take this approach/suggestion recommended by an insurance adjuster I know. Put some grease on the stove and leave. Simply state you forgot about the grease when you realized you had to evacuate. When they ask why all the family photos and valuables are gone from the home and it looks planned.. Simply tell them you took them cause you thought the house was gonna flood. A burned down house has much better insurance coverage than a flooded one. You will also get a check very fast.

Flood insurance is just a pain in the arse. I make my customers pay up front/upon completion, I supply them with receipts, and then they can fight that battle. I am always there if they need more documentation down the road for the insurance, but it can take many many months for those flood insurance funds to be released.

I’m not suggesting you do it or condoning it, but I’ve seen it paid out multiple times when a house burns and then gets flooded. I’ve heard of it working many more and an adjuster point blank said a grease fire is always paid. I own a restoration company fwiw.

But it is Ourso's job to take care of the residents in his parish, and I cant fault him for doing what he's doing.

He can go to hell with his “screw the tens of thousands to save a few” attitude. All this shite about “my people.” Shut the frick up.

We are all people. No one wants to get flooded. All this keep EBR water in EBR is some of the most ridiculous nonsense I’ve ever heard. It’s water. Is he putting up aqua dams around the perimeters of his parish where the water drains out to keep the Iberville water in Iberville? No? Didn’t think so..

Looks like there was already a lawsuit filed at some point. Wonder how it was resolved.

This is a different issue than the dams, but similar issue. Seems like from this quote Iberville is taking inconsistent positions.

quote:

Songy, however, remained firm that the floodgate will remain open. Songy stated that closing the floodgate would be a violation of the Louisiana Civil Code 658, which states it is illegal to interfere with the natural flow of water.

If they remain and there is flooding, Iberville will pay to rebuild the EBR homes that flood.

Is there even a natural flow of water anymore? Putting concrete everywhere seems to make it pretty unnatural.

I would dump dirt and make dirt levee. The court order said nothing about that. Then have pumps on Spanish lake side pumping water over my levee.

Earlier you said there was no legal basis for this when the situation was reversed.
