BATON ROUGE - A sheriff's deputy was wounded in a shooting while on the job Tuesday morning.

The shooting was reported near the Hub apartments on Highland Road near Lee Drive around 10:30 a.m. A large police presence was reported at the scene.

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office said the deputy was investigating a reported restraining order violation at the time. The deputy is expected to be OK.

It was not immediately clear who fired the shot.

All individuals related to the initial investigation into the restraining order violation are being detained.

God I wish they'd bulldoze that place. That, the shithole house with all the junk next to Walgreens, and take the smoke shop on Lee with you when you go.

About time for another thread where people reminisce and anecdotally share:

1) how they used to live in those apartments back in the day and how great it was
2) the demise of the surrounding lsu community as section 8 housing infiltrates

I fail to see what good pit bulls bring to the world.

I remember it being called Highland Plantation when I was in school, but it might have gone through several names. If you're looking at Neighborhood Walmart on Highland/Lee, the apartments are to it's left.

There was an Exxon right there in front of the Walmart, which was recently bulldozed. No signs have gone up to indicate what might be getting built there. Really hope it's something decent. That intersection is weird.. you have little to no activity on the side that has CVS and Shell, yet you have a trash warzone just across the street at Walmart/old Exxon.

“It’s unclear who fired the shot”.

…I’ve got a pretty good idea.

Yea Name didn’t ring a bell but area does. Highland plantation is what I knew those as.

Also sounds like cop tried to shoot dogs and managed to hit herself.

I'm pretty sure that was Plantation Trace when I was at LSU. That Walmart was a Delchamps. They've probably been renamed. That was almost 30 years ago now.
