Gluten somehow disproportionately affects white women who are active on social media. I'm not sure if there is causal link or not, but the correlation is overwhelming.

This is a good thing imo. Women tend to be more health conscious and they raise awareness of the disease of gluten intolerance. Hopefully more mainstream products will remove gluten entirely

Oh look, it's a shill for big gluten

Did you know that Monsanto tests their gmo grains on 3rd world countries? Can you imagine being gluten intolerant in the third world but all there was to eat was Monsanto poison?

Did anyone really need a study to know this?

Thanks, I always try to stay positive but sometimes it's a struggle with my gluten intolerance, fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue syndrome

People still don't. It really irritates me to see chicken marked gluten-free. I figure it you're too stupid to know chicken is gluten-free, maybe you should just be removed from the gene pool.

LOL! you don't even know what you are arguing. There is no gmo wheat, rye, or barley grown anywhere in the world so no one is eating gmo gluten.

1. That study reeks of being manufactured to produce a desired result. And there are many more ways to have a healthy heart than eating whole grains.

2. The gluten free crowd probably goes overboard with substituting rice flour, potato flour, etc. Truth is we all eat too many carbs. Wheat has a very high glycemic index, but substituting all that other junk is just as bad.

3. Other sensitivities to gluten exist besides celiac. Perhaps trying a diet change is preferable to loading up on prescriptions to fix symptoms of things like psoriasis or digestive issues. There's no doubt people have gone overboard with it. But that doesn't mean trying GF can't help people.

Because I can remember and update my food intake every 4 years ...

Because the study was observational, however, "we can't say with certainty that this is a cause-and-effect association," Chan said.

I am shocked they even mentioned cause does not equal association in this observational study...But let's make grand statements like this...

Eating "gluten-free" when there's no medical need to do so won't boost your heart health -- and might even harm it, a new study warns

For instance, it doesn't reveal what the people who avoided gluten substituted. "Were they picking a more unhealthy choice that put them at risk for heart disease?" he wondered.

It is a trash study that doesn't reveal anything. The 15% increase risk could have come from anywhere and the fact that they didn't include what was substituted and didn't mention lifestyle changes makes this whole article worthless.

For people who still want or need to steer clear of gluten, Chan said it's important to obtain adequate amounts of fiber. Oats and brown rice are good sources of gluten-free fiber, he noted.

muh fiber ...

Obviously you are a part of the ag problem

Yes, they have been modified to withstand all the herbicides, pesticides, and insecticides and we are digesting them whereas other first world countries refuse to.

I think you have to pay extra for gluten free crawfish. If not, some enterprising young crawfish farmer should look into that.

Not necessarily. When you take something out of your diet that provides nutritional value or health value, it must be replaced somehow. That requires a conscious effort. It wouldn't surprise me if many people didn't do that.

Take vegetarians. Meats are one of the most common sources of protein. When you make a conscious decision to not eat meat, you must, therefore, make a conscious effort to replace the nutritional benefits of meat. If you don't, you risk becoming protein deficient.

But the study didn't take into account what was substituted. The post below mine did a better job explaining why the study is garbage.

You sure did get all "scientifically legitimate” in your post! Midtiger farm

It is exhausting trying to convince someone invested in GMO grains of the truth because it will hurt their bottom line. Our government did a damn fine job of conving us not to eat tropical oils in the 80’s to pave the way for GMO corn and all the byproducts. Anyone can do their own research and decide for themselves.
