It was more about pandering to MADD.

Let’s see if I can get someone to finally answer my question….

For the people on this board that want harsher penalties, so should people that got in an accident while TEXTING get the same penalty?

that is the law where I live, don't know what the penalty is but it is never enforced, and I see cops texting while driving all of the time

I can’t wait till all cars are fully self driving and we won’t have to worry about this nonsense.

Just curious:

How could a texting-while-driving charge be proven/verified by law enforcement?

In UAE they have cameras everywhere that can detect if you so much as have your phone in your lap. Comes with a nice distracted driving ticket.

True, but 0.08 isn’t drunk.

It's legally drunk, and some people are physically impaired at that point.

While I think it should still be 0.1, I know what it is and I limit how much I drink if I am driving (honestly, I can't recall the last time I had more than two drinks, anyway). It's not that hard to avoid a DWI.

Sure, nothing wrong with that, since they are serving the purpose of stopping at least a few people from hitting the road drunk.

It’s been well documented on this site my buddy got one. To prove it’s nothing more than a money grab for the county, his probation officer said as soon as pays all his fines, he’ll be done. What a fricking joke.

Some of you down voters need to experience the pain of losing a loved one or a good friend to a drunk driver, like I have...

Agreed, or while driving while female. They're impaired before the first sip of foamy shite they call coffee hits their lips. And all you assholes in the passing lane, too. That's almost assuredly you.

As others have pointed it out, how is it any different than losing a loved one or a friend to a sleeping driver, or a texting driver, or a distracted by kids in the backseat driver?

Don’t bother arguing about texting to some of these posters. Some people have a massive issue with drinking, but will never answer the simple question regarding drinking vs texting

Isn't that just for #1 and only below a certain level? BTW your buddy deserved what he got.
