I have to agree. When I drove through it, there weren't even any crops to look at. Just completely flat land and an occasional dead deer on the highway.

This is the only answer to both questions.
Only if you don't have satellite radio. The trick to driving through west texas is to pretend you're in the movie, Fandango, and look for gas stations similar to that in the movie.

Lake Charles to Lafayette or vice versa... hands down. I'm not sure the road curves one inch either direction, nor does the elevation change. It's a blowout your brains kinda drive.

I drove from Va Beach to the Kitsap peninsula in 2007. There is a ton of empty space in this country. Wyoming took the cake. I drove through the entire state east to west. I believe I went about 70 miles between gas stations/rest stops at one point. I did get a ticket for going 105 mph in a 70. It was only about $150. Worst drivers are on the East Coast in the mid-Atlantic states. That includes NORVA and Maryland.

That's got to be the secret to sanity on I-70.

The Texas panhandle and West Texas are the worst drive I've ever taken. Hours and hours and hours of nothing.

Illinois. All cornfields and long as hell

I don't know about anyone else, but I hate the hours of driving from the bama/florida state line through the panhandle to get to I75.
Nothing but pinetrees for hours.

Driving all the way up through Illinois on 55 is fricking terrible.

Texas on I10. Mile after mile of nothing. Mexican radio stations.

From Minneapolis to Billings. Just terrible.
The best town to stop in is Fargo. Just let that sink in

Dallas going North (i-35 I believe) and Southern Arkansas (particularly i-40) is brutal.

I heard this a lot...and I disagree. Maybe it's because I grew up in a flat place, but I drove from Austin to L.A. (along I10) and really liked the scenery.

The stretch between Pensacola and Tallahassee is brutal.

65 all the way through Alabama really is dull and boring.
Most brutal is driving through Massachusetts. Those drivers just plain suck.

Drove from Chicago to Jacksonville, Fl a few years back. Southern Illinois blows, but Georgia outside of Atlanta was awful. Might just have been that drive though.

I kinda liked west Texas. Speed limits 80 on 10 and it was different type of scenery then I am use to driving
Baton Rouge to Mid Arkansas was the biggest pain in the arse
