It allows you kid to take the ACT at a young age which will usually make them bettter at taking the test going forward - that’s the only benefit. My son took his first ACT test in the 7th grade and by his junior year of high school he didn’t need to take it again due to his score being high enough.
Now, the rest of the courses and summer classes and other things they try to sell, I would stay away from, because like the OT said “it’s a money grab.”

Take the test it is good experience for later testing. The money grab is the online and summer courses tbey offer if your kid scores high enough. And please dont flaunt tbe bumper sticker.

The $75 is the only thing you have to pay to register for the ACT. As others have stated it is a way to gain experience before taking it in high school.

An intelligent and highly motivated (academically) child doesn't really need test prep courses. It would only marginally increase their scores, which will likely already be high enough to gain acceptance and/or scholarships to most state schools.
A stupid child or one with low motivation won't see the benefit because they won't really give a shite or won't have the knowledge base to apply their preparatory skills.
Vast majority of high schools should have a free SAT/ACT prep class which should be plenty sufficient, or you could just shell out the $40 bucks and let them take the real test.

It was sat's back in 92... and i actually submitted my score from 7th grade to the ncaa clearinghouse for initial eligibility. Basically it ended with a shitty afternoon at the O'Connell center for an award presentation, possibly some light pushing of some duke summer camp bs.

I did it. It looks good on a college application. But yeah a little bit of money grab. Tell the ex you will pay the first $75 and she can cover anything else that he needs for it.

I wouldn't. The ACT has too much higher level material they haven't seen, so they'll just end up with a mediocre score on their record.

Highest score is the only one reported.
If you score lower in HS than in JHS. . .you deserve to be sterilized.

Most of the duke kids I saw taking the test just did bubble lines and put their head down half way through the time.

Because of my test score I was able to take courses at SMU and Northwestern over the summers before getting into high school.
As a freshman at CHS I was finished with my required sciences after my freshman year so I got a jump start on AP classes.
It also put me into programs for test taking through out high school which key to becoming a National Merit Scholar and college scholarships
It’s not some golden ticket but it identifies kids with potential to be really intelligent so the local parents and schools can cultivate that.
If a scout from the Yankees asked for your son to get involved with their baseball program because he saw talent and potential, would you let him?
