How much does getting a tattoo hurt, really?

Depends where on your body you get them. Mine didn't hurt all that much.

It's not so bad, the hard part is sitting still for an hour or two.

I've only got 2, and they really aren't that bad, but it also depends on where the tattoo is placed.
Anywhere near bones like elbows, wrists, ankles, knees, etc. where the skin is thin, they tend to hurt a good bit more. Also around sensitive areas like nipples or if you find getting slapped on the back painful, then a tat in those areas will sting.
The outline is done with a single needle and the coloring is done with multiple needles on the machine.
I found the area I got tattooed in got numb a bit after a while, so not all that bad really.

from watching the tattoo cover up shows after people regret bad tattoos, i learned the level of pain depends on the spot its in, so just like getting a shot at the doctor, some spots can hurt a lot and some you barely feel
places with thin skin and no muscle seem to be the most painful like ribs, top of foot, wrists and ankles, and spinal column backbone area
i never understood the appeal of putting graffiti on for life that becomes blurred and faded in just a year or two and then you look like a meth lab wall and there is no "you gotta maintain it bro" because if you have to re-tattoo it every few years just so it doesnt look like faded out pile of shite, then thats even more retarded

I don’t really have a problem with tattoos as long as they aren’t visible with short sleeve shirts. What bugs me is you see these young couples with a baby (usually at Walmart) and both of them are covered with tattoos all over their arms and legs.I know they have better things to spend their money on than getting all tatted up.
