When did we start taking drunk (but conscious) people to the ER instead of the slammer??

Lazy cops. Happens ALL the time. To be fair busy-ness and staffing could be an issue as well. Ties up an officer for a couple hours?

I'm already reaching serious levels of burnout as a bedside nurse. Working as an ER nurse right now would just make me hate everyone in general

ever thought of doing case mgmt, either on hospital or insurance side? My wife does this and works from home.

That's every nurses exit strategy. If could "sell" and had tits I'd have tried drug rep, but that well went dry.

I'd love to be an equipment rep. The "GE guy". Every ER in Houston damn near uses the same GE system. But whenever one is installed or upgraded a rep has to come out and show it to the staff. Would be nice except for the travel.

Other exits are Pre-op, pre-admit (what I tried), outpatient PACU, and med spas.

Hope your wife enjoys her little corner of the world.

By the time I was 21, I didn't even want to drink anymore because it wasn't strong enough.

I'm glad I got healthy.

He just looks like a guy who would slip the date rape drug into a chicks drink without hesitation... and then brag about it afterwards.

Mandeville kids must be a bunch of pussies now. No way would that have happened when I was in high school or through the first few years of college

I already interviewed for a case management job at the hospital I work at. Still waiting to hear back on that one. But yeah....that is what I would love to do right now. I'm so tired of the bedside. Management doesn't give a rat's arse about us nurses anymore. They don't care about the patients and their safety either....just $$$$ at this point. Becoming the common trend at many hospitals now. Bedside nursing is just getting worse and worse. I truly feel bad for anyone just now going graduating nursing school going into nursing (I would honestly encourage them to look into a totally different field tbh...unless they are just gonna do bedside nursing as a stepping stone to get an NP or CRNA).
