I think some dude taking a poll on why people were leaving the game early, talked to him before going to the hospital.. The reason he left early was due to not wanting to wait in traffic.
This is a joke related to a thread on the Tiger Rant this weekend in case no one knows what I am talking about.
One of your best...no really.

Assault of a woman. No doubt this thread would have gone a lot different if dude's name was Jerome.

Stuff like that is just another reason why I have no desire to work in the ER
Even in the Peds ER you are not immune to assault. One of our attendings just got his nose broken from a dad punching him after he did an LP on the guy's child.

No shite. Overnight in jail drunk tank cost Vs. Overnight ICU stay cost.
What was really fricked up was a couple of occasions where they had the snap to realize what we were doing. They were hammered but still had some grasp of "they're putting me to sleep?"

Shove an NG tube in him and yank it in and out.

I had to google LP.. Does it mean Lumbar Puncture? Why would parents want to do something like that to someone who is trying to take care of their child? Idiots...

Race baiters dude. Let them cry in their safe space and become irrelevant.

If the puncture is just slightly off it could paralyze someone so it's pretty dangerous but yeah they're doing it the person's own good.

The Google tells me he played LAX at St Paul's. I'm sure there's other stuff out there but I don't have time to look right now.

Yes, an LP is a lumbar puncture...or spinal tap
Some parents flip the frick out when they see their child crying during a painful procedure. I've had parents yank an IV needle out of my hands(and nearly stab with me with it) as I'm trying to start an IV on their child. Yes, some of the procedures hurt...but many times for the babies/toddlers....they are crying more because they have to be held down so they are still enough for us to be able to do the procedure.

Must be talking about the Slidell part of the Northshore. If you are around my age (32), you couldn't be more wrong about western St Tammany

That's what I am saying.. I seriously doubt they would do it because they want to. It just seems like attacking a nurse would only cause more stress to the situation... Which isn't in the best interest of the child.

I don't know the specifics of what happened in that situation. Maybe they were not able to get the LP on the first try? That does happen sometimes meaning they have to try a few times. Doesn't necessarily mean the doctors don't know what they are doing either....could just be the child's anatomy(just like some people have difficult veins to start IVs in, etc). However.....parents don't always understand that and just want someone to project their fear and frustration on.

Parents are tricky. Have to be able to assess a level of parental ignorance. Then weigh that against the benefit of an LP. I hope the dad was charged with a felony.
Beyond that we have tricks at our disposal. Foley catheters inserted without lube, "oops I forgot". A quick tug on an inserted catheter always gets a drunks focus. Annectine given before etomidate, but that is another level of mean.
And.... Only for the highest of levels. Were kids at home? Were kids in any way involved? Anonymous CPS report. It can NEVER be proven that I did not have the child's interest.
My favorite that I personally witnessed... A nurse who was cursed had a husband who worked was a parole officer. She calls him to check. He is a parolee. She has her husband call the guy who handled the patients parole/case. "You should probably hit him with a random drug screen on Monday." Poor fricker went back to prison.

1. Down vote me all you want. Cops can be lazy. Drunks belong in jail, not ERs. Taken care of countless guys who were told "jail or hospital"?
2. Never close a door with a drunk, and never get a drunk between you and the door.
3. When something like this happens, that dude gets fricked up. Had many "come to Jesus" talks with drunks. As I have aged though, my discussion is usually IDGAF In nature. "I'll never come in this room again. I'll leave you in your own piss and shite, your a blacked out drunk, and I am a nurse. Who they gonna believe?"
4. Intubation. I used to work with a female doc who tubed many drunks. One guy just for calling her a "count". her rationale "he's unmanageable and we need to protect his airway."
