Having lived there for several years I absolutely agree. Texas is nothing special.

Texas is severely overrated. It’s a big Louisiana. Baws everywhere. I mean every other car on the road is an F150 or Chevy Silverado. The roads suck. Construction every 10 miles backing up traffic on the interstate. There is no culture. East Texas tries to be Louisiana. South and West Texas tries to be Mexico. North Texas (Dallas) is just generic. A generic big city.

Since its so much bigger its bound to have more areas like Mandeville. Congrats on the public school system though. At least you Texans can hang your hat on that

Texas has a lot to offer. It has mountains, beaches, deserts, canyons, and swamps.

This is weird. I recently drove across Texas and have the opposite take. The roads are better maintained and they don’t have the trash on the roadsides.
It took me about 7 hours to drive from San Antonio to my house in Baton Rouge, 50 minutes of which was driving from Port Allen to Sherwood Forest Blvd.

I live in Texas and agree, please don't move here since I-45 and the beltway are close to bursting at the seams as it is.

I drove through New Orleans once, someone stole my hubcaps and shot my back window out.

I think it's one of those things that no matter what evidence you present to counter his point that it still won't convince one way or the other. For some reason they live in Texas but seem to hate it.

There absolutely is culture. You have to stay West of Dallas to find it.

As soon as you leave Louisiana in any direction the roads improve.

El Paso to Houston is horrible. It's all brown. Almost as bad as San Diego to El Paso on I-8/10. That's all sand

Don't forget to mention all the left lane cruisers. I swear they don't teach Texans the difference between lanes in driving school.

It's not a texas thing, its a driving in Louisiana thing. Everywhere in Louisiana is two lanes, one with a guy doing 15 over and the other with a dude doing 5 at least 5 under.

It sucks arse to be doing 80 and have to get over on I-10 consistently for some baw doing 90 to get stuck doing behind some fart doing 65.

Food culture. Unless you're eating Tex-Mex, steak, or BBQ the food culture here is chain based. Not a lot of good "mom'n pop" places to get a good meal. Haven't explored the ethnic centers of Houston yet for Chinese food etc but I have heard good things. Louisiana clearly wins in this regard.

The shite you say

stand by my experiences in the lack of quality food outside of Tex-Mex, BBQ, and steak. Which by all accounts are fine with me, just want some variety.

Outside of cajun food what unique food option does Louisiana have?
