Driver License Renewal Question: Real ID

So, I need to renew my Lousiana drivers license and it appears that an online renewal is not Real-ID compliant. To get a Real ID license, I have to go to the DMV in-person. 
Now I’m thinking that maybe I don’t really need a Real ID if I already have some alternate forms of government-issued IDs. I have a TWIC card and passport already.
Any OT’ers familiar with the Real ID license? Is my plan above gonna work?

I will need to fly soon. Hence why I am seeing if I can avoid the Real ID and still board a plane.

If you have a passport I would think you’re fine but idk for sure

If you have a passport or TWIC you're good.

If you have a passport you are good. It’s obviously a federal ID.

Gonna need it to fly in the next year or so and make sure to bring your birth certificate when you go.

Doesn’t go into effect until 2020 for flying. Got my license renewed couple weeks back.

From what I am seeing it looks like oct 1, 2020 is the deadline.

If you get one, you need your SS Card and original birth certificate.

If you get a license from a title place, is it a real ID? That's where I got mine from

I had to bring a bill that matched my home address as well as old drivers license and SS card.
They take biometric information from your face so you will be going into a facial recognition database.
You think, cool! They now take your pic at the desk. But naw. It’s your face scan.
Then you have to go take a new pic and wait for the new Real ID marked license to print.
ETA: Without the Real ID license, you can certainly board an airplane in Louisiana but other states where it is required, may not let you board for the return trip.
