I posted the following in a thread on the Saints Talk board:
None of this should really be a big surprise to anyone. Sean Payton has been speaking out against the 2nd Amendment for years. He advocates doing away with all firearms in America.

Honestly?
I couldn’t care less.
Drew seems like a good dude and he’s obviously a hall of fame player but I’ve never cared at all about his politics.
I don’t care about any athletes’ politics unless they’re in your face constantly yelling about them. But that’s because I don’t like the delivery. It has nothing to do with the message.
He’s a football player. I watch him to play football.
I’ll bitch about how much I dislike politicians when it comes to politics.

It's almost like people think that since Drew Brees apologized for his statement that he doesn't believe what he said. He's in his 40s. His beliefs are likely firmly entrenched at this point.
He just doesn't want to potentially tarnish his legacy and wants to play another season of football. He didn't all of the sudden have an ah ha moment at 41.
