I would say tuck it in but if it’s a wedding where everybody is wearing boots and jeans it could go either way to be honest. Just pull up and see what everybody else has then do that. Or keep it tucked and if everybody is untucked you can untuck too.

I’m guessing OP meant flannel or button down or even pearl snap shirt instead of “dress shirt”. These would all be more appropriate options if you are combining it with jeans and boots.

You do not wear dress shirts with jeans. Ever.

Then you have the dick bags acting like they never saw rural people that wear jeans and boots and button downs and cowboys hats to weddings and funerals. You ever stepped foot outside the city? Do you live in New York City or something? What rock have you been living under the past 20 years? This is what most rural people do now.

This is also somewhat acceptable if it’s everybody’s favorite college football team

This is a dress shirt. You wear them with khakis and slacks. You always tuck them in. They are too nice to wear with jeans. It’s like wearing Oxford dress shoes with jeans.

This is a button down. They are made to be worn with slacks, khakis, or jeans. Hell even khaki shorts if you really want to. They are more casual. Many people will say you shouldn’t wear a tie with them, but I’m from texas so I don’t give a shite about that.

Learn the difference.

Tuck it in, but leave your fly open and pull the front shirt tail out of the fly

Thats what I say but the "kids" say that's the old style.
Why are you listening to "kids"? I'm in my 20's and would never not tuck a long-sleave dress shirt in. Short sleave maybe a little different if not at work.

The only short sleeve shirt I would wear with a collar is a polo, PFG, or Hawaiian shirt I think

How is something "very" cowboy themed? I don't think you can have a "little bit of a cowboy theme" going on? Kinda one of those all or nothing type deals.

Either way, if its a cowboy themed wedding, I dont think it really matters. Personally id probably go untucked because there is no doubt going to be a fight at this grand "very cowboy" wedding.

Going to a wedding Saturday evening at one of those outdoor wedding venues. It's going to be very cowboy themed.

tuck it in or leave it out? This was a big debate among friends this past weekend.

“Cowboy themed” is not synonymous with trashy, and I do not know when the line between the two became blurred. Just because something has a western or country flair to it does not mean you throw manners and decorum out the window. This is a wedding. Tuck it in.

Depends on the length. Some dress shirts can be left and are designed that way.
