Yea I'm building in Terra saint off Sallier by the port, he lives on charvais.

Talk to the city, city says so long as I'm not draining on to his property, he is responsible to drain his and that his drainage is required to go to charvais. They are looking into it as he had already called this morning and they will issue something in writing today or tomorrow. Still gonna work with the guy as I don't wanna get sued.

You seem like you were a lot nicer than I would have been if I'd have gotten that text at 6 in the morning. He wants you to pay to drain his runoff or let water from his property flood your backyard. Tell him to frick off. You don't have to do a damn thing as long as your lot isn't draining onto his property

Now sign up his phone number on a bunch of timeshare sales websites.

How do you know you arent draining onto his property? If you are higher now and werent before, its likely that both of you are draining to each others property lines.

if the city offers something in writing that is on your side, then the good news is any lawsuit will involve them. if you get sued alone you can third party them in. i was involved in similar litigation with Westlake a few years back. this wasn't a residential development, though. it was one of the hotels that sprang up. opened my eyes to their permitting process (not in a good way).

Why? Stand your ground. The city already told you that you're fine and they're going to issue something in writing for you. He won't waste his time suing if the city already put him in his place and if he does sue, he's going to be the one who ends up paying all the court costs and your attorney fees when he loses

It's crazy to me that anyone would build on that swampland by the port much less pay $100K+ for the lots

No offense LSU777

there is still a feeling of exclusivity even though Walnut Grove never took off. i don't get it but i don't run in the lakeshore circles

i've actually thought about buying locations lately b/c i kind of want to sell my mom's place but i don't know what i'd do or where i'd look at. don't have to worry about school zones...yet, so probably still around downtown

2016 flood happened because it was a biblical rain and the entire area has been overdeveloped. The rivers and creeks can only carry so much water. Too much concrete and not enough turf

man they are hosing that area big time. Had friends living right off the bayou on Lafitte for years and slowly the west side of the bayou was razed and hotels/other/??? built. They finally said frick it and moved to Deatonville.

i am very curious how in the frick they're going to develop that area around the new bypass to the casinos

that's all swampland with some MAJOR developments (2 casinos, like 15 hotels, the target shopping center, etc) surrounding it. now they're planning on removing all those trees AND adding all that concrete around the area?

smells ripe for an ecological and drainage disaster

My neighbors (who already live off of Lakeshore) bought a lot in Walnut Grove and his wife won't shut up about it like people should be jealous. I am just thinking about how I wouldn't build on that swampland and pay that much to be next door to the port but to each their own.

Will never happen but could you imagine the flood issues if it did?
