it became Boudreaux's Butt Paste. Oddly enough, I am close buddies with his grandsons. I never bring that topic up though. Feel like they might still be butthurt
no pun intended right?

That 4 letter using sonuvabitch was my doctor growing up and he was the best damn doctor I've ever had. Talbot is a legend in Monroe.

Mike Napoli was still mixing up Dr Talbot's butt cream as recently as 1997 when I had my first kid. I had enough to last me through my daughter later on.

My mom used that, Mercurochrome, and what she called PURPLE MEDICINE it was very similar to Mercurochrome with the stick attached to the topper for sanitary application.

Wholesaler out of Meridian sent truckloads of Dr. Tichenors to the reservation in Philadelphia daily. Dry county.

Do the math.

I’ve got a cool old bottle from my grandparents house. No label or cap/cork.

Used it as a kid for scrapes and minor cuts. I didn't know ot was a regional item until I moved out of state in the 90's.

I always found it interesting that Dr Tichenor and much of his family are buried here in Baton Rouge at Roselawn cemetary on North Street.

As a teen in the 1950s, I worked in a drug store in Bogalusa that sold a lot of Dr. Tichenor's. On Sundays, when alcohol sales were forbidden, we'd move a case of large bottles of Tichenor's up to the soda fountain to sell to the drunks who needed a fix.
