How about the FDA do its fricking job and make those very harmful ingredients illegal to put in our food like these other countries governments have done? They are complicit in our poisoning because they are likely benefiting from it just like the corporations that are doing it. $$$$$$
Did you know there are also dyes in Europe that are banned in the US? Did you know the regulatory frameworks for both countries are similar but not the same. RED 40 and HFCS are NOT banned in EU. Partially hydrogenated oils are banned in the US but not EU. E153 an artificial color found in European M&M's is banned in the US. It goes both ways. Do some research.

People on here will be outraged yet oppose increased funding for the FDA. No solutions, only problems.

Only? Have you been inside a store recently? Honest question? I think tons of you guys on here never grocery shop
ok maybe there is 1 or 2 but the ones you think are healthy still have way more unnecessary ingredients than what they have in the same cereal in other countries

there sure are a bunch of apologists for giant food corporations on tigerdroppings. They would put nicotine in cereal if they could get away with it.
It's any megacorp. I'll never understand it.
These people are also pro fat shot on the health/fitness board. Nothing like a good ole Ozempic shot being promoted. And again untested pharmaceuticals to the rescue. Until we find out they're causing turbo cancer or whatever but keep that 401k in line at any cost.

a lot of countries don't have to list ingredients that make up <1%
which is why you see these shorter ingredient lists

The shot that cost $4.32 to make, is sold for $98/ month overseas and $900 a month in the US

Maybe RFK can just force companies to put a giant cigarette style warning on any food product with seed oils in them lol.
“Feel free to eat this bag of chips with a giant skull on it, lil pig”
im good with that
and im fine with banning hfcs but understand that will cause food prices to spike
1 thing they need to do right away though is ban ethonal. that is causing things like beef and chicken to go up in price because it removes a huge feed source or makes it more $$
problem is corn lobby is huge and will fight tooth and nail.
not to mention all the issues it causes in the gulf from run off, amount of water it waste, how it doesnt help the environment etc etc

eat meat, rice, potatoes, fruit, eggs to make up 90% of your diet and get 8k steps and you will be healthier than 95% of people in America
It isn't. You need to consume real whole foods most of the time and (here's the deal breaker for most people) you're going to have to get your arse off the couch and pursue physical activity on a daily basis.
We didn't get here because of any one or two factors. Americans are suffering from a shitnado of converging factors, including food and lifestyle choices.
But the truth is, as you said, most of it can be avoided by simply preparing and consuming minimally processed food, walking 5-6 miles a day, and lifting heavy weights a few times a week.

nah its the seed oils
its definitely not that we live sedentary lifestyles and read rage porn 24/7 that fricks with our stress/anxiety all the time

I wasn't arguing for European countries. I pretty much hate anything European. I just want our govt that already has plenty of funding to do their job and test things before they label them 'safe' or good for use. I want that for food or drug or anything else they label 'safe'.
I realize most people have zero discipline and are addicted to sugar. Hell, I recognize the fact that I'm addicted to sugar and carbs. Every day is a fight to remain disciplined and try to eat right and exercise.

The point is that our FDA allows many things that are not allowed in other countries. They are allowed because it saves the manufacturers money but to the consumer's detriment. Fruit Loops is just a small example of a much larger issue. They are even adding dye to Salmon. How stupid is that?
So is this the small government or big government thread. It's hard to keep track.

last study i read said that only 8% of the population performs resistance training of any kind more than once per week.
average american takes 2500 steps per day
those two things alone are a recipe to an unhealthy society.

well lobbyists are paid because they get access to FDA and other bureaucrats
and Congress rubber stamps recommendations

so....those that consume lots of calories and have the least amount of activity are the least happy and most obese?
who knew?
still has nothing to do with hfcs
we have actual studies showing this...not just your assumptions

shows how clueless you are...just repeating what some moron told you.
i wouldnt say pro shot either but more a better understanding of the science behind it. your cancer comment makes me think you dont even know that glp1 have been around well over a decade and that glp is a naturally occurring hormone in the body
also its recognizing most people are not going to make the change and keep it off without help. we have seen that over and over and over again over there.
so yea....a medicine with very few side effects, that has been around in some form since 2004 and in current form for over a decade and has proven itself to help, has tons of positives like lowering risk of heart issues, lowering all cause mortatlity, helping blood sugar etc...yea gonna tell people to use it when its a safe drug and they are failing over and over
you sound like a stupid frick saying ozempic is gonna cause cancer. shows complete ignorance and is a big time sign of low iq

Ok. Stealing is bad, cities should police better to prevent these issues. Fair enough, I’m not arguing about food deserts.
But the reality is that there are places where the closest place to buy food is a dollar store, and that’s not good.
