Another question...does McDonald’s actually tell you where to put the store that you pay for? If so, frick that.

You never saw the movie about Ray Croc? He nearly went broke selling franchises. He was not making much money off of them. Then someone said, don’t be in the burger business, be in real estate business. He’d buy the land the McD’s were to be built, and make the franchise owners pay him rent.

If you can't keep a McDs open then you're either a terrible business person or you picked a shite location.

But but McDonald’s were SJW and changed their logo to black in the US. This can’t be.

But to open a single restaurant, the company requires that potential franchisees have liquid assets of at least $500,000. Startup costs, which include construction and equipment expenses, average between $1 million and $2.2 million, according to McDonald's.

In other words, each of these black franchisees had to have 500k liquid, and startup costs at minimum are $1mm.

Oppressed? Give me a frickin break. The franchise WINS if the franchisee at least breaks even.

A couple million bucks means jack squat to McDonald’s.

franchisees ultimately select the location they wish to purchase themselves
I'd like to know if these people had their franchises in "urban" locations that they chose. If so, it's easy to see why they didn't succeed.

Also, I'd like to know when they all lost their businesses. It's a hell of a time to file this lawsuit, I'll give them that.

Of course it's racism, of course it is.

In this case it’s pretty probable. You can’t just open up some McDonald’s on any corner. Wouldn’t be surprised if there was a push in the 1980s and 1990s to get franchisees that look like the locals to open up stores in shitty locales.

In the 60s, they bitching that white people owned the stores in black communities. Now they are screaming because they own those those they fought to attain, and here’s a shock...businesses in low income areas don’t make as much money as those in more affluent areas. “We had our cake, and now it tastes like shite. Now we want you to take ours that we screwed up and give us yours.”

I would have no idea if an owner of a fast food place I visited was black or white, nor would I explicitly care.
Just provide a decent and clean place and have a decent staff and I'm good

This crap would make me want nothing to do with allowing black folks to have a franchise because if they fail, i was being racist

The lawsuit itself implies that a business in a “black community” cannot be profitable. Why is that? What is the basis for that line of thought?

Why do black people not want to support their own committed? Why is the goal to be granted a franchise in a “white community”. What is a white community?

That shite is rediculous and I suspect will either be settled for pocket change or torn apart by a half decent team off attorneys.

is this where the OT acts dumb all of a sudden?

How is that anything more than a poor business decision? I will bet every single cent to my name that no one held a gun to their heads and forced them to sign franchise paperwork.

And I will bet every single cent to my name McDonald’s lies their arse off to potential franchisees to get them to open up these stores.

Sounds a lot like South Africa the past few years. It’s not a coincidence.

I was the Controller for a 12 store McDonald's franchise operation for 12 years. The only way you could screw it up is to crap on the counter.

I wouldn’t be surprised if McDonald’s lowered their standards for certain franchisees and locations.

McDonald’s franchises are the holy grail. Minority franchisees are given highly coveted McDonald’s franchises, they make tons of money, but are now pissed because they didn’t make as much as the other franchisees.
