Please elaborate. I'd like to know this story.

Loved going there for live music back in the day. I got smashed at Lucy’s way too often.

When is the last time you “went out” downtown? Been a while I imagine. 70815 and 70802 taking care of business.

Yep this is correct. I forgot that Richoux’s closed and Parrot Beach opened at the end of 04.

around 2006-2012 Downtown was thriving.

Was packed every weekend.

Restaurants busy, all the bars were busy, Hilton opened and was popping.

Now, I cant tell you the last time I went down there.

SWB told BRPD to write tickets for open containers to anyone on 3rd street because if they are writing them in north Baton Rouge, they can write them on 3rd street too. That killed the vibe downtown. frick that ugly bitch. We all know the NBR dindu’s aren’t paying 1/100th of the taxes the 3rd street patrons are.

She banned open containers so people couldn’t bar hop as easily with a drink.

RIP roux house in the prime

The Roux House is now Mothers lounge, a gay bar. I had two events downtown this week and had a drink there. I see no path to success for a place downtown in its current state.

Also ate at Cocha one night. It was decent but nothing spectacular.

Manship Theater and the updated river center are actually pretty decent gems of downtown. Tsunami has gone downhill.

Maybe the hockey games will bring extra business. So much potential wasted.

Sounds like Happy's and/or B&Ts will be "Under New Management" sometime soon.

B&T’s is already under its third (at least) owner in like 5-6 years.

It’s kind of sad what has happened to downtown. There are a lot of things over the years that have slowly caused it to slow down (the city actually enforcing paid parking in the public lots, BRPD enforcing open container laws, shitty bar, L’Auberge) but COVID was the death knell.

No he’s been out from Happy’s for 8 or 9 years. I think the only thing he has left downtown is Schlittz.
