No matter what happened before, it was a dumb move by the guy to keep jacking with her after he called her the name. Right or wrong, there could be an argument made to elevate that to a hate crime.
This is also an example one @sshole's actions being projected into a larger population which isn't truely representative of what actually exists in reality. Racism has been on the decline for a LONG time. Still exists, but in smaller and smaller numbers.

Is there something that could have happened that would have justified the guy's behavior?
Probably about an infinite number of things. It just so happens that guy wasn't interested in the supreme taboo nature of a particular word at that moment. That's all.

The power some you give the N word is unbelievable.
Lot of history behind that word.
I’m a white dude but I have black family members. When I hear that word used I that way I feel like you are insulting my FAMILY. Don’t hesitate to believe I won’t stick up for my family when you slander them.

if each of our "most stu[id regrettable moments" were made public none of us would have jobs.
This chick could do the right thing by going public( again) and requesting that his company not fire him, but alow this experience to serve as a learnable moment.
and then just move the frick on

That was never her intention and sure as crap isn't going to happen now. She's a twitter star for a couple of days and that is what she wanted.
Dude was a dumbass and just learned that everything today is videoed and put on the internet, what an idiot.

He said some words. Grow some skin and move on with your life. No need to dig into the dude's personal life and mess with his family and livelihood.
